You're like the MAGA's and covid. You don't think the DSA is evil and then someday you'll be begging for the DSA vaccine and it will be too late.
lol…you just said the DSA would destroy the Democratic Party. You are not remotely a rational, logical, well-informed person. You strike me more as an anti-vaxx flat-earther type who is easily bamboozled by the latest thing. Once again, you should force yourself to become better informed rather than spouting the latest conspiracy theory to pop up on your feed.

Your attempt to insult me is just stupid. You're playing the same game as the MAGAt's you despise. I'm fully vaccinated and the earth is round. Left untouched the DSA will destroy the democratic party, along with people like you who are ok with socialism. Go ahead and put your head in the sand, it worked well for the republicans.

My "attempt to insult" you is whole-heartedly deserved. What do you NOT get about MAGA appealing to poor/white/Christian voters - a "yuge" voting bloc - and riding that to control of Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court? Do you understand that their entire base is comprised of a singular demographic? Do you understand that they appealed to those voters with a singular, "morality-based" appeal? Do you understand that you can not apply that same thinking to the Democratic Party? I want you to think REALLY hard and tell me what large bloc of the Democratic Party - a bloc that would comprise a full 30+% of ALL eligible voters - that would unite behind a DSA candidate?

In one post you babble about the DSA taking over the party and in the next you claim the DSA will break the party. You're flailing wildly trying to promote an idiotic, both-sides narrative that has zero basis in any reality, and you can't even keep your own delusion straight.

I'll say it one more time - you have NO idea what you're talking about.

Just like MAGA has their people, the DSA has their people. MAGA took over the republican party and the DSA will take over the democratic party if allowed. You
can make all the excuses you want, but in the end don’t be surprised if the dem party ends up a socialist party.

LOL... of course they have their people. It will be and forever remain a tiny contingent within the Democratic party. If the Democrats were EVER to become a "socialist" party (as opposed to the corporate party that they are), it will be because a majority of Americans have become "socialists". And even THAT wouldn't make the DSA label attractive to the majority of that group.

Shocking as it might seem to you, being a socialist doesn't require that you adopt the fringiest ideologies that claim the label. You're a socialist when it suits you. How close are YOU to becoming DSA?

You're manufacturing a boogeyman out of your own fevered imagination so you can continue to play your idiotic "both sides" games.

The DSA is real and they have specific requirements to be in the DSA, along with changes to our government. I do not qualify and never will. Most people never though there would be enough people to vote for trump either and here we are. The DSA members are winning as democrats, so it's on the democrats to remove them. The DSA is smart enough to know that if they run as democrats they can get elected, if they run as socialist, they're probably not getting elected to anything. They are hijacking the democratic party and you're willing to allow it. For years it's been the republicans who won't look up, and now it's people like you.

I haven't manufactured the DSA, they've come right out and stated who they are. You should really believe them, they're not hiding it. You're no different than Riveting who backs trump because he's able to selectively look at what's happening.

As I have repeatedly stated - you don't know what you're talking about.

You idiot, of course they'll take your money. I'm talking about be an active DSA member. In order to be an active member, you must be anti-Zionism. You have to be against Israel. Those are core values and there's more that I disagree with. They expect their members to have their core values. They wouldn't want me and I certainly don't want them. If the democrats want to allow the DSA, then I'll be an independent and decide where my vote goes.

Help—I Feel a Bad Case of TDS Coming On - WSJ

Gerry Baker is Editor at Large of The Wall Street Journal. He was previously Editor in Chief of The Wall Street Journal. He writes a weekly column for the editorial page of The Journal each Tuesday on politics, economics and culture. Mr. Baker also writes a weekly column on US and global affairs for The Times of London every Friday. He appears frequently as a commentator on TV and other news platforms and is a familiar public speaker to audiences around the world.

I’ve never been a victim of Trump derangement syndrome. Yes, I’ve found much that is repellent in the man’s character and rhetoric. But whatever his shortcomings, it seemed clear to me by 2016 that the country had, through years of bipartisan failure and the transformative effects of a malign cultural revolution, reached a point where radical change was needed. I was open to the idea that jarring disruption of the political order—perhaps necessarily delivered by a jarring figure—might be the only way to reassert the sovereignty of a disenfranchised people, restore the primacy of American interests against globalized progressivism, and reclaim our traditional civilizational values.

Even after Jan. 6, 2021, removed any doubt about the threat Donald Trump might pose to our constitutional norms and rules, I thought the institutions of the U.S. would be strong enough (as they were then) to constrain his worst instincts and intentions. And by November 2024, after four years of a Democratic presidency had revived the prospect of a restoration of the progressive left’s crippling hegemony, the risks he posed seemed smaller than theirs.

But I am sorry to have to report that I have now self-diagnosed with a virulent form of TDS. Not one malady but three: as my condition has steadily progressed over the last year from Trump disappointment syndrome through Trump disillusionment syndrome to a full-blown case of Trump dismay syndrome.

Dismay seems to me the only natural response to the way the Republican Party has blown one of the great opportunities in political history in less than the time it takes to graduate from community college. When Mr. Trump won in 2024, becoming only the second Republican since 1988 to receive a plurality of the popular vote, he had a real chance to establish a new governing order, perhaps even to break the generation-long deadlock in partisanship.

He didn’t have to do anything especially risky. The opportunity was to use his victory—and a Republican Congress—to do things that would command significant majorities among Americans: take control of the border, alleviate the pressure on working Americans from rising prices, roll back the woke authoritarian takeover of governing and cultural institutions, and keep the U.S. military out of costly, ineffective foreign interventions so we could focus on confronting with our broad network of allies the great strategic threats of the next 20 years.

How’m I doin’? as another controversial, larger than life New Yorker used to ask.

Thanks to a self-indulgent tariff fixation based on a profound misunderstanding of international economics, an insouciance about public finances that has widened the deficit, and a reckless military adventure that has choked off global energy supplies, inflation and interest rates are higher than they were in November 2024. Instead of a hands-off approach to the economy that would have generated noninflationary growth owing to the AI investment boom, we now have gasoline prices 30% higher than they were two years ago, diesel 60% higher, and the average mortgage rate nearly a percentage point higher, adding more than $2,000 a year to a typical home buyer’s interest cost.

The war that has done so much harm to Americans’ finances is doing far more harm to our military capacity and our strategic interests. The president has alienated everyone in the world who could be helpful to us (perhaps excepting Israel) and emboldened and even embraced every country in the world that threatens us: China, Russia, North Korea.

A signal achievement has been getting control of the border and removing some of the people who have no legal right to be here. But even with this proper and overwhelmingly popular policy, the administration has managed to harm the country and the GOP’s standing. The unnecessarily cruel and indiscriminate approach has caught many in its dragnet who shouldn’t be treated that way and is fundamentally un-American. The political effect has been to devastate support for the GOP among Hispanics, more than reversing the gains Mr. Trump had made with the fastest-growing ethnic population in the country.

Further dismaying is the caesarism of the past two years: the grotesque self-enrichment, the self-satisfying prosecutorial pursuit of political enemies, the endless projects of self-grandiosity—the ballroom, the Kennedy Center and the Memorial Arch. Not to mention the buffoonish symbolic acts that substitute for actual thought and policy: the Gulf of America, Lake America, New America, the 51st state.

When presidencies fail, when political parties’ fortunes collapse, it’s often the result of circumstances and decisions beyond their control: an unforeseen global crisis, a recession caused by exogenous economic forces, the sentiment that it’s time for a change after a relatively successful period in office.

None of that applies to the looming Republican calamity. Instead, it will be the result of presidential hubris, vanity, recklessness and the wider party’s abdication of accountability. Instead of seizing an unrivaled opportunity to shift America off the path of progressive endangerment, the GOP risks handing it back to the Democrats and their own obsessions.

It’s enough to give anyone a case of Trump derangement syndrome.

So - basically - if Trump hadn't been the guy we all knew he was way back in 2016 or if congressional Republicans had miraculously found their spines, everything would have been fine!!!

That's how stupid this guy is.

I appreciate the answer. Are we doing that thing where we confuse a dislike of the Israeli gov't with a dislike of the Jewish people? Because idk any DSA people espousing antisemitic remarks, but I do see a lot of them having serious gripes with the Israeli gov't and what they're doing in Gaza.

I'll say it one more time - you have NO idea what you're talking about.

You're being intentionally overbroad about what constitutes a "singular demographic" that pervades MAGAtdom, and intentionally narrow in terms of defining demographics of the Democratic party.

The noise we've heard from you, and fellow leftists on this board (or formerly on this board) is that the moderates ... or the corporatists (an abused/misused term) better step aside or get on board the progressive train because it's taking over. So, yes, the leftists are trying to transform all these alleged "demographics" into a single-minded borg. We're already seeing tentative agreement when the topic of DSA comes up, by leftists who say "we aren't DSA, but ... really ... are most of their ideas all that bad? Who doesn't want healthcare ... who doesn't want ...".

It's an effort to pull off something similar to what MAGA was successful pulling off. Some eventual MAGAts just wanted lower taxes, so they went along with the candidate most likely to give them that. Some only cared about overturning Roe v Wade. And so on. So these disparate folks latched on to the same wagon ... and ended up accepting all the crazy stuff, or embracing it. Hell, as I pointed out before, many of the Bernie Bros and the eventual MAGAts were born from the same mother of generalized discontent. A decent number of Bernie Bros either refused to support the Dem candidate, or actually voted for Trump.

We see you priming the pump of "what's so bad about socialism?" with your ploy of "well, you like some socialist things ... so what's a little more socialism?" as if you're a desperate 15 year old boy trying to get laid ... "we kissed ... and you liked that, so what about if we just go over the clothes? you liked that ... what about if I unhook your bra? ..." It's creepy, but you're consciously participating in it, as are other progressives. You're trying to normalize socialism, and increasing socialism.

So ... absolutely I can foresee a distinct possibility of some wolf in sheep's clothing, or some cult of personality, swooping in and focusing on progressive ideals and platitudes, and taking the Dem nomination away from the center candidates, who will be in-fighting and splitting their vote (with some help from angry MAGAts who might help the far left candidate get nominated, because they think they'll be easier prey), and then enough folks saying "well, it's better than a MAGAt in office" and backing the DSA-sympathetic/adjacent nominee get elected, at which point they'll become more vocal about their true intentions.

What makes the DSA "evil"?
1. Apologizes for authoritarians — Celebrates Castro, soft-pedals Maduro/Venezuela/North Korea, has factions that praise Mao/Stalin and study “revolutionary violence.”

2. Post-Oct 7 Hamas stance — Chapters and statements framed the massacre as legitimate “resistance,” pushed “from the river to the sea,” and punished members who backed Israel’s right to exist or defensive aid. Mass resignations called it a moral collapse.

3. Wants to abolish core institutions — Platform/positions include ending the Senate, subordinating the presidency and Supreme Court to Congress, abolishing prisons/police/ICE/borders.

4. Economically delusional — Full agenda costs $71–212 trillion over a decade. Confiscating all top wealth + corporate profits still leaves a massive gap. Requires middle-class taxes or collapse-level nationalization/price controls that have failed everywhere they’ve been tried.

5. Captured by extremists — Sectarian caucuses (Red Star etc.) run purity tests, train for “uprisings,” prioritize foreign revolutions over American workers, and drive out democratic socialists.

6. Anti-American framing + elite capture — Treats the U.S. as the root of global evil while pushing policies (open borders, defund police) that working-class voters of all races reject. Mostly educated professionals LARPing as the proletariat.
