It's an amazing program. My wife's boss has a son with autism and I've mentioned the program to them.

Well thanks, that ****** me up pretty good. My son with his teaspoon of the 'tism will be an applicant for that program in about 13-14 years.

Great story. My boy has an extra chromosome, ie Down Syndrome, and we're hoping that's a possibility for him as well. At 3, it's about 15 years away, but damn if all other parents weren't right before I became one, time flies. Feels like just a few months ago, I was reading to him in the NICU.

My wife has a student (OT) that is assiting with that program. We went to Starkville last year so my wife could evaluate and see the program and see how she is doing. After seeing the program and listening to her student talk about all the success she is witnessing with the Access program my wife absolutly fell in LOVE with this program. When I heard her stories about it I can honestly say I had never been more proud to be a Bulldog. There are only a handfull of these programs in the US and State is leading the way and showing what can be done and should be done. The other thing that makes me proud is how MSU students embrace the Access students. Each Access student has a college coach and peer mentor. The students really embrace and love the Access students and help them have the best experience they can possibly have.

well, I can't speak to raising a child with a disability, but I can speak to raising a child on my own, and IT. IS. TRUE......time flies, and as they get older, is goes faster.

I love that video, and the "ACCESS" program.......just further proof that there is more good in this world than bad, and we need to acknowledge and display the good as much as we can.

Good for Rees and that family, and every family raising a child that has different needs and hopes for their future independence

The Access program is great. My neighbor's daughter will be in the program next year.

Ole Miss just started a similar program but due to space limitations it is only offered in the summer right now. I also think USM may have a program either starting soon or it's already started.

The general population typically doesn't understand the need for special needs services.

My mom always said about raising kids, "the days are long, but the years are short"... and I would have to say that sums it up really well.
