One thing they can count on is 50 point win against avery.
Whatever you say half a fan. I bet if Mitchell gets beat Friday night you will box up your stuff and take your kid to Madison. You went from heritage to Mitchell. Do you just go to whoever is up? lol. Ask Pittman about the SWING club. You change alliances so much, you will fit in for sure!!!
You know I never consider avery lol. Avery would cut their arm off get coach like Pittman. Lot of your players have reach out to mitchell about leaving , tired of being in basement every season lol
Avery @ Owen- Owen 45-31. Is Owen better than we think? Potentially. Owen finally notched a little better win as they defeated Polk last week 46-27. The Wolverines played a pretty sloppy game across the board with two fumbles and three interceptions. This was a game many believed would be closer but Owen was able to handle business at home without much issue. This week they'll see an Avery team who continues to show everyone how many points you can score and still almost lose. After giving up 34 to an awful Madison team at home, one would expect Owen to about name their score from an offensive standpoint. However, the Vikings are averaging 39 a game heading into week 6. So if you are going to beat them, it's most likely going to take you scoring at least in the 30s. If the Vikings can keep Owen under 30 they should win this game, but I do not anticipate them doing so as they are giving up 36 a game. Expect a high scoring affair and the ponies to come out on top.
Madison @ Mountain Heritage- Mountain Heritage 42-14. For the first time in two weeks the Cougars will be taking the field and it couldn't be a better situation for them to ease back into things. They get to play at home and they get to play a Madison team fresh off giving up 45 to Avery. Heritage will score as many as they feel like scoring, but will most likely take their foot off the gas early in the 2nd half. There is no reason to expect a close game here and should simply be business as usual for both sides. There will potentially be slow start for the Cougars in the 1st quarter as they remember how to play a football game, but it will not last long.
Mitchell @ Polk- Mitchell 21-7. This is a game where my outcome was greatly altered by last weeks events. I expected Hendersonville to handle business a little better than they did against Mitchell and I expected Polk to give Owen a much better showing than they did. Which leads me to believe Mitchell is slightly better, at least defensively, than I gave them credit for and Polk is not quite what I thought they might be. Polk being at home should give them a little boost in confidence, but up to this point Mitchell has proven to be pretty difficult to score on. Whether Riddle plays or not I do not believe will effect this outcome to heavily, as I expect Polk to struggle to move the ball. Heading into this game their passing has been frequent and inconsistent, with their only stable offense being Blackwell at running back. Expect Polk to have a difficult time running the ball, attempt some ugly passes, and Mitchell to pull it out in a low scoring, somewhat stale, affair.
Hendersonville- Bye. Coming off a solid win on the road at Mitchell, the Bearcats take the week off and prepare for the ever dangerous Madison Patriots. Good thing too, I was concerned for them.

Owen should destroy Avery as long as they don't play down to their competition. Keep penalties down and resist the urge to engage in Averys buffoonery.

I don’t have a problem with mitchell. I don’t have a problem with Pittman. He is a little shady, but he is a great coach and has built a fine program. You just always bash Avery. I agree that the program is in a bad place. We need a coaching staff change. Some of the ones on the coaching staff have been there for a decade or longer. I know and really like the new AD. I believe if you give him some time he will turn Avery around.
The craziest game I have ever been to was at madison. It was quiet a few years ago. Avery beat Madison late. Scored a late touchdown and to take the lead and then intercepted a pass to end the game. While in victory formation madison wanted to fight. It felt like it took forever to run the clock out because of the constant flags and ejections from unsportsmanlike conduct penalties by the patriots. When the game finally did end the fans started throwing things at the Avery players and the refs. Police had to escort the players and coaches to the busses and the refs to their cars. It was crazy. That’s what I call bafoonery! Good memory though!
I watch avery at jamboree, they are getting better. Believe they have right man as head coach, in my opinion he doesn't have much help. They need show patience, let the coach pick his staff, keep politics out of it.
Avery county leadership has failed Avery. It begins with the school board, then extends to the administration and eventually to their coaching/sports. When you have a revolving door of superintendents, principals and coaches, you will never be successful long term. Avery had quality teams in football years ago, and was a dominant basketball program not long ago. Additionally, in more secondary sports such as wrestling and golf they have had several quality teams. The athletes are there and the money to fund them is there. With places such as Banner Elk, Beech Mountain and the Linville area, the funds to support long term athletic success are there. Sadly though, Avery does not appear to support Avery. Chances are they are one coach away from turning it all around in football, but who knows when and if that coach will be there.
Mitchell will have few guys out tonight , but the injury situation looking lot better now. Still think we have enough get job done tonight. 35-7
Your prediction of Owen having to score in the 30’s to win….not so much. We just needed 8 and should have had a couple more. We are at the Avery 11 just running time out
Good win for you all. I think most people expected an Owen win, but holding Avery to 7 is a good defensive showing for you. Especially considering their offense had been lighting it up and your defense had been inconsistent at best. Offensively you did what you should have. You all would have scored more if Avery had turned it into a shootout, but you didn’t need to score any more. The meat of the schedule for Owen is the next two weeks in Mitchell and Hendersonville. It’ll be really interesting to see what you all do at Mitchell as they come off a thumping of Polk. You’ll read my thoughts on it next week.
We dropped 2 sure tds and we fumbled as we were scoring in the end zone on another and ended up at Avery’s 11. Could have scored many more points
Stampede don’t act like that Avery didn’t have their chances. Drove the ball good but penalties and turnovers killed drives. Not to mention a fumble inside our own 10 yard line to spot y’all 7 points. The truth is Avery was still in pretty late in the game down 7-21 driving when Avery kid had a scary injury. Again not taking anything away from Owen. They are the better team, but this game was a lot closer than the final score would indicate. Owen scored a couple of times in garbage time.
Dude what game were you at? Garbage time? The Avery kid got hurt when Owen had the ball. Owen fumbled in the end zone and dropped 2 TD passes not to mention the 25 yd field goal we missed shortly before forcing the previously mentioned fumble around the 10 and we were at the 11 of Avery taking a knee. Are you special needs? Seriously!! You are out there!!!!

We were about to go up 21-0 when we fumbled the ball in the end zone. We scored nothing in any garbage time. Garbage time would have been scoring from the 11 which we chose not to
Avery never threatened in the game. Never!! Your qb was like 7-24 which means he didn’t complete a very good percentage and you were behind the whole game trying to catch up

You’re living in another dimension or something. A false reality. I’ve never encountered someone so confident in his delirium.
No cat fight here…. And yes we were in it until late. Owen is the better team. I said that and I stand by that, but they are not head and shoulders above Avery. They moved the ball well, just failed to come away with points. Some of that was our fault with dumb penalties and mistakes. Some of it was good defense by Owen.
You had 265 yards of total offense. You moved the ball well at times and not at others. You had 80 yards in the one possession that you scored after we fumbled in the end zone. You had 1 turnover in the game. One tidbit of info is you have 18 seniors on your team. We have 6. At this point you should be the more polished team and not make as many “mistakes” as you do. Maybe I should bring up that our starting qb missed a good amount of the 3rd quarter under the tent including when we fumbled the ball in the end zone. Anyway Avery is an average team and to this point we have proved we are slightly better than average and we have a lot to prove and work on if we want to compete with the top 3 in the conference. I’m not saying we will beat them but I feel like if we play at a high level we can. Time will tell. I do however know that Owen left at least 24 points on the field against Avery and no matter how you feel you can’t dispute that we dropped 2 TD passes that our receiver was wide open on and had 10 yards on the corners and we fumbled from the 1 into the end zone and we missed a fg. Do the math. That would be 52 points. Not to mention being inside the 20 the last 2 minutes and downing the ball at the 11 on first down 2 downs to run the clock out. Avery played hard and they played tough but Owen was better and the score could have been worse a lot easier than better for Avery. You really didn’t have any more scoring opportunities
We better beat owen this Friday, they are very young team , they play very Physical football. Looks like they have right coach now, their future is bright
