The rumor is Cohen wanted to keep Durkin. Sumrall didn't.
Literally shocked at John's lack of competence. It's so much not like Cohen to 17 up a coaching hire. **
You can add Cannizaro too. I think he would have been a good coach but it turned out bad.How many coaching hires did he botch here?
Moorhead? *Maybe* Cannizzaro? Nikki McCray-Penson?
Paul was on the airwaves praising the Moorhead hire back in the day. He was 100% on board.PF just brought up the Moorhead hire and the Freeze hire. Ha Ha Ha
PF clearly has the advantage of hindsight.Paul was on the airwaves praising the Moorhead hire back in the day. He was 100% on board.
Every single talking head was.Paul was on the airwaves praising the Moorhead hire back in the day. He was 100% on board.
Maybe Cannizarro? That cluster 17 was totally on Cohen. How many coaching hires did he botch here?
Moorhead? *Maybe* Cannizzaro? Nikki McCray-Penson?
Steven Pearl is a good one too.Maybe Cannizarro? That cluster 17 was totally on Cohen.
Add Freeze, Steven Pearl at Auburn
I guess Cohen still thinks he is the smartest guy in the room despite all evidence to the contrary
I am too. I have defended him a lot as understood the things he wanted to do, but damn, his execution was horrific.Literally shocked at John's lack of competence.
I had two classes with him at State and he was the dumbest person in both classes and these were writing class and literature. I knew when he was first hired as the baseball coach, baseball was in trouble, but when he was hired as AD, I knew that the whole department was 17-ed.Maybe Cannizarro? That cluster 17 was totally on Cohen.

Not to take away from your post, but as a coach, he did take us to play in the first national championship we ever played in.I had two classes with him at State and he was the dumbest person in both classes and these were writing class and literature. I knew when he was first hired as the baseball coach, baseball was in trouble, but when he was hired as AD, I knew that the whole department was 17-ed.

His abilities as an AD are certainly suspect, but I can't question his abilities as a baseball coach. Our baseball program was a complete and total farce when he tookover after Polk II. I think Cohen has to get some credit for where our baseball program is right now. Cohen is smart enough to be a good baseball coach, but not smart of enough realize that is what he should have stayed. Not to take away from your post, but as a coach, he did take us to play in the first national championship we ever played in.
pretty sure I could have done it with the talent that he had. I guess he was a good recruiter. Not to take away from your post, but as a coach, he did take us to play in the first national championship we ever played in.
Uhhh, OK buddyI knew when he was first hired as the baseball coach, baseball was in trouble
Yeah, I'll say so, since he recruited the whole team completely out of the bomb site your hero Polk left. And our talent wasn't nearly as good as some of our peers at the time (Vandy, Florida, Arkansas, etc), he had to totally start from the bottom and coach them upI guess he was a good recruiter.
Where have I ever said that Polk was my hero or even close?Uhhh, OK buddy
Yeah, I'll say so, since he recruited the whole team completely out of the bomb site your hero Polk left
No more responding to you, Byrne and Cohen literally saved our baseball program, it's a fact, and he gets credit for thatWhere have I ever said that Polk was my hero or even close?
He 17ed up hiring the TCU baseball coach who’s now at Texas. How many coaching hires did he botch here?
Moorhead? *Maybe* Cannizzaro? Nikki McCray-Penson?
Hey we can fire our current baseball coach and hire Cohen back as baseball coach and give the difference in salary to football NIL.No more responding to you, Byrne and Cohen literally saved our baseball program, it's a fact, and he gets credit for that
Your and idiot, carry on
“We didn’t want Cohen either”can we go ahead and make this the Auburn vs MSU slogan thread? this is where it is going to come from I think
I agree with you. But Keenum has the bigger blame.
Baseball. He knew. AD way outta his pay laneUhhh, OK buddy
Yeah, I'll say so, since he recruited the whole team completely out of the bomb site your hero Polk left. And our talent wasn't nearly as good as some of our peers at the time (Vandy, Florida, Arkansas, etc), he had to totally start from the bottom and coach them up
This might be the most brain dead post on baseball I've seen on here, talk about revisionist history
Get off dat crack
Saved? No more responding to you, Byrne and Cohen literally saved our baseball program, it's a fact, and he gets credit for that
Your and idiot, carry on
Absolutely clueless. Intentional ignorance. It’s not a debate. Anyone who will not admit that Cohen saved MSU baseball is cloaked in complete stupidity.Saved?Name every coach since Polk who ain't made the CWS, I'll help you, there's only one and even that team went with an interim coach. Only thing that left lane no turn signal 17er saved was his own *** when Keenum was throwing it out.
