ESPN announcers are tone deaf about money in NiL…

On the Ark game they spent 10 min talking about the state of Ark football and all they can keep saying is they need to find more money to compete. Never once occurs to anyone that most schools have a finite amount of money. That is a different spot for everyone. But, the ease that a 70,000 student university can raise an additional $15m is quite different than a 25000 student school can. College football is going to eventually cave under its own weight.

Silverfield wasn’t that great at Memphis.

Just imagine if Ark was in a state with the same population, but 2.5 major schools competing for the money.

Arky should have plenty of money unless the Waltons just aren’t participating in football NIL. Maybe they gave it all to basketball.

I don’t really think its as much being tone-deaf as it is that they want to just stay employed.

No announcing duo for a college football game are ever going to have extended dialogue about how the sport is in a complete death spiral. Just not a realistic expectation, even if its true.

It’s really no different than watching MSU vs. Alabama in 2009 and announcers saying “Mullen appears to have things headed in the right direction, but his staff has a tall task and is really going to have to recruit a different level of player to compete with Alabama”. Everyone knew that shít was never going to happen.

The bubble is going to pop at some point. One thing I noticed watching Vandy/NC State is most of the commercials were Disney. Are they subsidizing the broadcasts with their advertising or just taking advantage of the lower cost ads? Also noticed at 2:30 the “regular” ads start showing up.

Everybody says "they just need to spend more money"..... with no regard of what they are actually saying.

Unless you are a billionaire, it hurts to write a 6-7 figure check to go into a black hole .... that has no guarantee of any ROI.
