If you fire Schiano, fire Zinn and Tate both. LSU! Really, that’s how far we have fallen. It stinks to high heaven!! It’s just a matter of time before the whole thing explodes in our faces.

If you fire Schiano, please stop the professional sports, gambling driven racket. Time to get out!

Rutgers is a university, not a gambling parlor.
Lol why are you on a football message board? Rutgers is a University, what does football take away from Rutgers as a University? All the new 💩 that gets built in coming years will be because of the big 10 and football, where do you rutgers1000 kids even come from? Must be like western new jersey lol

You’re such a 🤡. If hiring a General Manager fixes our talent acquisition issues, it’s a lot better than burning everything down. If we burn it down, we may never be able to build it back up. Who is going to write the $30M check, you? Don’t make me laugh.

he loses his job, then this program is F’d, unless people step up with those big checks.
Get control of yourself man

You assumed the worst from my premium thread, which said, put aside the fact that Pikiell is sick. (We are obviously all praying for his speedy recovery)

Doesn’t Schiano deserve the same mulligan that Steve was granted? Steve’s mulligan was granted before his medical condition was known. And I’m fine with it. This year we pulled in a much better bb transfer portal class because we had money.

Football should be in the same position in January, so Schiano deserves the same opportunity. And I believe I read from you that you said that Schiano deserves a mulligan. So we’re actually in agreement.

If Rutgers BB opened the season last year losing to Rider, Maine and Lehigh.....your point might have been more meaningful.

You dont seem to actually follow the basketball team and board.

What mulligan are people giving Pike?
Pike wasnt granted a mulligan.
Just about everyone wanted him fired the last 2 years.
Same as just about everyone wants Schiano fired now.

All threads from the end of 2024-2025 and this past 2025-2026 season.
Schiano IS getting the same "mulligan " from the fans. There is none.

Rutgers brought back pike for another year and that’s all that matters

wow Al going after a coach with cancer and calling for him to be fired? Not a good look for Al and he might need to go this time. Shows his true character.

Looks like Al has injected one too many ozempic shots into his head and not his fat ***.

Realize also that Al initially credited UMass for bringing in all those transfers and a "great QB" after our loss to them. But needing to sign 50 new players to RU after a coaching change would be a disaster. We don't have the NIL money to replace them even though #11 BYU, #16 SMU, #17 Utah, #18 Iowa, #22 Houston, and #25 Virginia (and #28 Boise State) are spending roughly the same or less than RU is.

Perhaps a significant roster turnover with a coaching change would be a good thing. RU had a manageable schedule this season. Start 3-1 with the loss to USC was a strong possibility. Indiana likely drops RU to 3-2 followed by winnable games at Maryland and Northwestern. Finishing with Michigan, at Wisconsin, Nebraska, at Penn State, Michigan State would make 7-5 attainable. Instead we are probably looking at 1 -- 3 wins. Rutgers should have been no worse than 5-7 with a chance to make a Bowl game.
A new coach will most certainly gut the roster, which is the most exciting part. In this era you can do that very quickly.

Rutgers doesn’t have money to spend on players and that’s the point. This is why our team is not competitive.
You have to spend money on 50 players regardless if they are in the program or not. By your own admission Greg valued keeping his roster in tact and spent most of the 23-30mm on retaining the roster (your words and estimation). Bad allocation of resources. Turning the roster over and bringing in 50 new players may even be cheaper. Because obviously Greg and team don’t have 20 years of estimation experience. And didn’t evaluate talent very well.

There is no way, Iowa is spending similarly in NIL to us. Iowa football sells out a 69K stadium and has between 48K and 52K season tickets. Their athletic department brought in $24M in donations last year. In our best year, we brought in $12M in donations last.

Howard and every remaining game is winnable.
In the other thread where Iowa is listed as having that NIL you claimed it’s all relatively correct. Now you are claiming that’s not accurate.

ScareGirlsAl is spinning all over the place on this board. It’s incredible to see.

Tough to keep all the excuses straight. Best when he posted the data as proof to make one point. Then denied it was accurate when it was pointed out his excuse didn’t carry water. Crazy world we live in!

I’m assuming that regardless, money is fungible and it’s simply not realistic to turn both programs over start to finish at the same time. Even if basketball has an awful season, there’s now a built in excuse to run it back for at least one more time (worst case scenario) without looking like a complete joke. As awful as it was to hear Pike is sick, the news simplifies things at the top.
That’s not how it works when there’s vertical alignment. I don’t expect them to get to that point though.

Exactly it’s an allocation problem not a spending problem. Could we benefit from more? Absolutely. But after the past couple years and the roster construction. I wouldn’t trust Greg and team with an extra dollar. Much less multiple millions.
Schiano wouldn’t know what to do with more money. He has it now and this is what he’s done with it. The more money he gets the worse the team gets. He’s a terrible coach and even worse GM

Bring in a General Manager and let him help Greg augment the roster. It would be a lot cheaper.

Rutgers isn’t capable of fundraising significant amounts of money to buy out coaches contracts. It’s literally never been done before. Until it’s been confirmed that amounts have been fundraised, it is prudent to assume that the amounts will come out of the operating budget.
Joke’s on you as usual in your desperate attempt to save St. Greg.

No AD raised NIL or much for other causes previously either. Keli is making it happen by getting businesses and people to buy into HER vision of Rutgers athletics. Not your paralyzed version of nothing is possible.

He had the option to bring in a gm . He chose not to. He opted to bring in more people to run the “portal system”. College personnel department. One GM or 5-6 people to do a similar role. Still waiting for you to answer what your estimated value of the UMass qb. You know the one that turned down the other options to attend the team coming off of one of the worst seasons in college football.

Keep posting this stuff, you’re small dck energy is exactly what needs to be eradicated from this fan base.

Greg’s mistakes have embarrassed the school on a national stage. Your chicken little the sky is falling routine hasn’t resulted in anyone agreeing with you.

You are the perfect punchline to a Monty Python’s skit.

Wydeek collier as well, Rutgers gets a 4 star and doesn't put them on the field to develop. Tariq hayer is another 1 wtf.. bringing in transfers from Keanu or Monmouth to play over your 4 star recruit's.. brilliant
Collier came in needing to bulk up significantly and while he made good progress he got himself booted so that’s all on him.

The rest are in their 2nd year. Let’s stop with HS ratings nonsense and start understanding why they are not on the field yet. A low 4* rating doesn’t mean a guy is ready immediately like some of you want. Every recruit is different, sometimes it may be S&C holding them back, technique, the play book. Too many of you just assume things and then rant when they don’t play without any evidence they are ready.

We all thought he was an idiot. Now we know he’s an idiot. 90% of this board wants him to go away. But this is all he has. Can’t get a girlfriend because he scares women. It’s not a joke. Creepy dude as we all know.

They lost to central Connecticut. They’re not even in the MAC.

Yep - and RU fans wanted him run out of town. Basketball plays almost 3X more games in a season - so multiple WTF losses in BBall would equal Football. Basketball is also much more prone to wtf losses than football due to the 3pt equalizer.

That all being said, and Pike's illness aside.....Pike wasn't really granted a mulligan coming off of last season. It's likely due to Football that Pike is still at RU. I posted the following sentiment on the BBall board during last season.....

Zinn is likely focusing on addressing Football as her highest priority as it has the highest potential revenue & expense impact. Also - did not make sense at the time to deliver Pike a payout given RU's $78M Debt.

Schiano on the other hand was likely being evaluated during last season and given a bump in funding allocation for both NIL as well as to continue his Staff carrying costs coming into this season. Schiano was 5-7 (2-7) last season - that was his mulligan season. The reason as I've already stated in this thread is that the impact coming off of last season's disappointment is adverse impact on revenue sources including Fan Attendance and Donations. Apologies to all the Basketball only fans....but it's more important for RU to address fixing Football as first priority.

While you may love Schiano and want him to stay and be given a chance to succeed in perpetuity.....there is already too much momentum and push among the fanbase and likely donor base as well to make a change. And IMO - it's deserved based on his results.

You can continue to shout at the clouds about lack of funding all you want as well as bully people on this board about how cheap they are and how they need to ante up. But until the time actually comes when significant donor & NIL money actually flows in, its better served to live in the reality within the financial limits we have to currently work with. In order for RU to succeed, we need to find someone who can successfully work within those parameters. The analogy is that we need to manage like the Tampa Rays right now and not aspire to have Yankee type money. Schiano has pretty much proven that he cannot succeed within the current financial state of the program. Pike will be evaluated at a time after the football mess is addressed.
