You can have the feed of the stadium clock directly distributed to every camera in the stadium. This isn’t hard. The clock on a scoreboard is no different than the clock in the bottom right of your computer monitor, which is linked to a master server that syncs date / time for all Apple / Microsoft devices, etc.
Take the clock fed from whatever computer in the stadium is running it, feed it through a master database that all the cameras can link to wirelessly, so everyone’s running off the same clock feed.
The idea that they’d try to sync the clock with a video feed of the stadium clock is completely asinine to me, but that’s what NBC was arguing they did. Seriously, the tech to solve this problem has been around for a bare minimum of two decades. It’s astonishing that this problem could still exist at the scale it apparently does.
It’s like if someone shows you a picture on their phone that you think is cool, so you want a copy of it. But instead of just having them text it or AirDrop it to you, you take a picture of their phone screen. So stupid.
