Forget about the point spread of the game with Miss State! But, deep down in your heart do you think we will win? ***

I genuinely don't know. I don't know how much of the MSU hype this week is earned/deserved or if they're just the flavor of the week.

I'd feel better if our performance against Towson hadn't been so uneven. One offensive TD in the first half is mega concerning.

Life as a Gamecock fan.

If I had to make a prediction right now, based on our history, I'd say "no".

Short answer: No

Long answer: It’s too early in the season to gauge the ability of this team. If USC had a successful past and a highly successful coach, we might pin our hopes on those intangibles. However, that’s not the case. So, all we can do is wait and see if we are pleasantly surprised.

And, as bad as the offensive performance by the WR’s was against Towson, my concern is the defense. There doesn’t seem to be cohesion in either the secondary nor the front line. We oftentimes say a team has “no identity” and maybe that is what I mean. There isn’t anyone taking leadership and standing out on defense. No one making big plays. I was not impressed that the QB from Kent State could pass downfield against the defense. The defense isn’t impressive and we haven’t even played against an SEC team yet. Just my opinion, and like many, I hope I’m wrong.

Edit: What about you, @Freddie.B.Cocky? What does your heart say about whether or not USC wins?

Towson's QB's numbers weren't impressive (16/30 for 171), but the D did allow him to make a number of big throws. We left some receivers quite wide open.

Though we held them to 9 points, I did at times find myself thinking that a good QB would have been eating our D up.

Yes. We needed two warm up games to get the new season jitters out of the way and to begin to develop some chemistry. Yes, we win with good defense and Carolina offense that will make some big plays via passing/receiving and possibly some special team scores.
Final score: South Carolina 30 Miss State 17

Talent wise, we are pretty even considering two of our top players are still nursing injuries. My mind says we win by 3 due to home field advantage but being a gamecock fan at heart, we probably find/invent a way to lose.

This sadly feels like the Vandy game last year. Started 2-0 and then it was over. However, I have way more confidence in this offense than last year. We shall see.

My heart tells me we do not win! We do not have a history of winning "close games" and "must win games".
