I know my answer wasn't very helpful, but was I wrong?

They're getting sports marketing lessons from Pitt?

I've told this story before, but here goes again: 1995 Rose Bowl, our section is adjacent to an Oregon section. We spent the whole game only rooting for PSU, not trash talking them. At the end of the game, the Oregon section all turned to us and chanted "You're #2."

And this was in the Rich Brooks era, 15 years before they became permanently insufferable under Chip Kelly.

They can go pound sand. Every last one of them. I won't even root for them against Ohio State and Michigan -- rooting for the meteor in those games.

For Lehigh Valley folks, Virgina Tech will be wrestling at Lehigh University on Friday, November 6. Stanich vs Bassett should make the trip worthwhile.
Will they allow Northern NJ folks like my wife and I to come to the matches? I hope so, 'cause I'd like to renew my season tix next to the head coach's dad, who was a college football teammate. ;)

Closed the deal on Lehigh season tix just a few minutes ago. 2 matches at Stabler (PSU and ?). No PPL venue for PSU/Lehigh, which I'm not super happy about - but we do get two matches in Hellertown, which has some good restaurants. It's been a while since Lehigh used Stabler for wrestling so that's a plus. There was a small charge for 5 women's matches ($16 per set of tickets). Total cost for 2 tix, 5 each men's and women's matches at Grace Hall and 2 men's matches at Stabler - $360.

I’m a little under an hour from vatech. Becoming vaguely tempting to catch a football game or wrestling match in Blacksburg

You should, although catching a football game without spending a mint could become increasingly more difficult as they continue winning...I'd go sooner rather than later

With that said, Lane Stadium is an amazing experience. Not necessarily better than Beaver Stadium...just different (in a very cool way)

I do remember popping into the stadium when we were doing college visits, and thinking to myself, 'man those student section seats are really steep!'

I live about 2 hrs west of Blacksburg. I’ve been attending 3 or 4 matches each year since PSU last visited. (note: I’m a season tix holder at PSU and attend most matches … and the 960 mile round trip is always worth it). VT usually has one match in their little half round theater (Moss Arts Center) and that is a unique venue definitely worth checking out. The other matches are held in their basketball area where it’s open seating. Get there early and you get a good seat. That’s gonna be a really good team for the next few years. Oh … and Blacksburg has a few nice bars & restaurants within easy walking distance of the wrestling venues. Easy going town as long as you don’t criticize Sir James with ill tempered language.

I have no problem with Franklin, and continue to admire the guy. It's like all of us - he has his strengths (recruiting) and his weaknesses (in game coaching). He'll do well for VaTech, particularly given the recruiting ground and the conference. Actually, it's nice to see the instate schools surrounding me (UVa, VaTech, and yes, JMU) doing well for themselves.

It'd be really nice if the hometown program - VMI - would actually pull some decent teams in for the tournament they host. I could walk to that.

Duke is listing Penn State as one of its Journeymen Classic opponents on Dec. 20 in Binghamton, N.Y.

Northern Colorado is slated to be in NY that weekend but only lists itself as wrestling Binghamton on Dec. 19. It's also calling that a trip to the 'Southern Tier.' Duke is listing a match with Northern Colorado on Dec. 20 that Northern Colorado is not currently listing.

Buffalo, meanwhile, is calling it the Binghamton Duals and lists Oregon State, Northern Colorado, and Duke as its opponents on Dec. 20.

Suffice it to say, I'm working on getting more info.
