I know it’s BC and we can’t control the conference but man am I glad the Dogs FINALLY get to play at home this week. 4 road games to start the season is brutal! I’ll admit, that road crowd Friday had that ruthless road playoff vibe.
I think you all complaining about the conference is over rated now. Majority of the teams there are teams ya'll used to play for years anyway.

Only Cherryville, BC, and Highland Tech are outliers. It's not the weak conference of the past anymore with just Burns and Shelby playing 1A's.

Even with the mess Friday, I am glad SC and Lincolnton provide competition and athletes. It was much worse before but we at least got more non-conference games to go with it.

In life there are lies, d@mn lies and statistics. And just saying, we played up or yall played down and comparing them based on nothing but the numbers is silly. Weddington is 7a, and so is McDowell.....anyone on these boards knows better than to compare those two teams. Shelby is 3a and so is Draughn.....we all know how competitive that game would be. Crest chose to play up against arguably one of the top programs in the state and we got beat (and should have).....and the points were not garbage time, and you dang well know it. Each year Shelby plays up against county schools, and wins some, and loses come but they are always competitive. Why because Shelby has a good program. But the whole classification only argument is ridiculous.

How is this for a ridiculous classification argument.

Since Shelby defeated Kings Mountain convincingly and took Crest to overtime on their field, can the case be made that Shelby, currently, would be favored over every team in all four classifications on a neutral field?

Think about that.
Then think about it again.

Yea, he got me on the convincingly part too. The only loss in the county that was convincingly was the final with Burns and KM. That game was 12-7 and KM ran away with it. The rest of the county games were neck and neck. I am convinced this dude wears a Shelby jersey to bed at night.

They are great Shelby fans and big supporters of the program. I have a friend that I have not seen wearing anything but a Crest shirt or a Bradley's shirt in at least 10 years. I would bet anything he sleeps in green at night. Great guy who loves his Chargers.

So I am hearing North Gaston might be packing it up for varsity the rest of the year and sending the eligible kids down to JV and only play JV the rest of the year. Might just be a rumor, but a source at SP said they are already looking for a game to replace them.

28-14 end of 3rd
28-21 final when we were stupid enough to put our second team kickoff cover team in.
Shelby controlled the whole game.
If reversed, we would say you controlled the game and convincingly won.

We know you are on a CC high. Good for you. Keep winning.
But the fact remains 3A Shelby controlled and won against you and you are now seen as MaxPreps 6A #1.
Go get a ring….

I'm not sure that you understood what I said, because I am arguing against, but also defending your point. Classifications mean nothing when it comes to quality of a program and a pool of talent. Shelby, because of their program standards and the pool of talent that they get to pick from puts them in a position to line up with any team in the state; no matter the classification. Not saying they would be favored but could line up and compete. The size of the school means nothing if they don't give a dang about football. I have argued there are schools in the area that have a pool of talented players to pick from (East Rutherford), but have no tradition, and no expectations; that equals no banners in the stadium. But the flip of that is to play against a...let's say Garinger. I will give anyone in the state Garinger and 28 points against Shelby. My money is a safe as a baby in her mom's arms. Garinger has a MUCH larger student body but no tradition. (Also, do they have a pool of talent). The only time classification means anything, is if they have a football tradition and a pool of talent that wants to play. Or, for you old farts, if Tommy Knotts is the coach and can get all the top talent in Charlotte to move to that school.

Or someone could say you almost blew it in the second half. They held you to 7 in the 2nd half too. That is not very convincing. Shelby won but a convincing win is not getting out scored 14-7 in the second half. You can "if we had not" all day. In a convincing win, you would not have to say "had we not". Convincingly means there are no what ifs. 32-7 vs Burns was pretty convincing and my team was on the losing end of it.

Well I could play the what if game with you. Our best OL got injured on the second series and did not play the rest of the game. He was manhandling your defensive tackles who started playing much better after he went out. His injury took away our pulling plays we run with him a lot. Your defense looked a lot better once he was out of the game. The self inflicted penalties and mistakes we had played a part more than anything. Shelby had 32 rushes for 92yds and 16-26 236yds passing. Thats not total control. Kings Mountain have corrected their mistakes from game 1, made changes in their defensive front/secondary, and look like a totally different team. Defensive changes, more offensive tempo, and a freshman qb with varsity games under his belt. Also running through the 3A playoffs isn’t the same as running through the 6A playoffs. Take your week 1 win and be happy. Our offensive guard on the first two series of the Shelby game before his injury:

Well said, but there are some elephants in the room you ignore.
Shelby has less than 800 students.
Where is this pool of talent that would allow us to compete at the highest level in both states? And we have done that since the 20’s….the 1920’s.
It’s never been about great players.
Just great teams.
Funny you would mention Knotts.
Indy did nothing before or since Knotts.
Shelby has had a string of Hall of Fame coaches, and the current one has three State Titles. Three coaches were alumni.
The coaches are the key. Never doubt that.
How did that happen?
Did Shelby just get lucky?

No, we are the True Dynasty in NC high school football.
No one else is close.
And we EARNED IT !

Loved Max Davis interview on CFI. Loved the confidence he spoke with when he stated that no one in 4A can line up with them and stop them from running the ball.

Well….seems like a great kid, but lincolnton did stop them for the most part in the first half of that game before Linc’s top tackler was ejected out of that game like a fighter pilot from a plane.

Everything you said is correct but the game is a four qtr game. Gotta stay on the field in big games.
