What's the real problem

Only excuse I ever hear is UK doesn't have the money to compete. It just doesn't add up when you had two of the highest paid coaches at the same time. Mediocre Stoops made Nick Saban money and Cal was one of the highest paid coaches( halfway deserved)

So does UK not have the money or does UK have to many people like the previous AD who wants a million a year and season tickets after retirement?

I tend to think UK just has to many corrupt people in charge. Broke schools don't have two of the highest paid coaches at the same time. Especially when one of the coaches hasn't even won anything.

NIL money ≠ Administration money ≠ Rev share which comes from Administration money and didn’t exist during the tenures you just provided.

And I don’t think anyone argues Kentucky doesn’t have money. It’s more that people speculate we don’t have the capital to match Duke, BYU, etc. It’s unknown what’s true in that regard but it is clear we have deeper pockets than most.

Stein said he had all the NIL support he needed but also said he won’t let a recruit hold him or the program hostage which basically means he’s not going to get into bidding wars. Would like to see us throw $2-3m at a proven top 5 portal QB now and then just to see what happens.

If Momcilovic really did receive $6,000,000 ... I can easily see $2-$3 million for a proven, Top 5 QB ... I agree.

We probably have more money than just about any other basketball program..the interest just isn't there for football yet. The Kentucky basketball brand is way more popular than football. I think football will continue to improve though

Yeah, that seems to be the going rate, we were in on a couple of guys but it didn’t work out. Much better than the astronomical value the top kids coming out of HS are asking imo.

HS kids come at a discount since they are unproven. The only exception is the top, top kids like Stokes.

It seemed boosters weren’t interested in giving Cal money for NIL when he was here. Probably the most prominent reason he left for the Arkansas chicken money (besides getting his son a job). As for Pope? I think he just can’t seem to attract players regardless of money. I think Mitch Barnhart and the boosters falsely assumed that any coach with a large check could come in and bring in elite players.

That’s obviously hasn’t really happened as of yet. And frankly if it hasn’t happened after almost 3 years, it probably won’t happen with our current coach.

Money will be NO PROBLEM for any SEC program. Mark is getting hammered on the recruiting trail. With the JMI deal which has been used against him and I'm sure Mitch has been used a lot too, he has NO LEVERAGE. Shaky NIL situation with JMI, and Mark Pope. It's just enough for players to say nah I'm good and go get a better option. Barnhart was an absolute mess beyond what many people even understand today. By far the worst man to ever work for UK athletics and it's not close. He held UK back 20 years if we're lucky. All for his narcissistic vision of himself. There's a reason he was thrown out face first.

Mark is ALL risk and ZERO leverage. It absolutely will not work in this current business climate. It's 100% guaranteed fail and I never by rule deal in absolutes.

Exactly. Kentucky went out and hired a bunch of hatchet corrupt POS who care nothing about winning in sports. These are accountants and corrupt academic board heads, we ran the Kentucky men out a long time ago and we're going to suffer for it for a long time .Barnharts corrupt *** was allowed to stay here and keep the train mediocre 10 years too long or more. It's going to take time, but we absolutely have corrupt men in the way.
