I would just say yeah, we apparently mostly agree until we get to the tyranny of the minority part. I do think there is a tyranny of the minority but it mostly goes one way. MAGA folks aren't a minority. The whole MAGA movement was a pushback on that tyranny. And I do agree that there's a lot of silliness within that group too. It's hard to find a political home when your values stay the same but the boundaries keep shifting around you. So I choose to align with those people who are as close as 'normal' as possible. People who don't fall into that category aren't a minority though. I ain't spending my time worried about this shlt any more. I will go and vote in every election I can, from local to federal, for the sanest mother 17er I can. Outside of that I'm going to try and make a little money, watch sports, drink whiskey, hope to exercise a little and try to enjoy the time I have left. I don't give 2 shlts about the robots either because I'm just as likely to get killed by a rogue meteor.

I do agree that most republicans are normal people. Most dems that I have personal relationships are normal people.

That said, it's not like you say.

Left leaning outlets like CNN and MSNOW spend too much time on anti Trump fan fiction. Russia Hoax, "Very Fine People" Hoax, self-enrichment nonsense, etc. When they're in it, it's 24/7/365. Hegseth is a drunk, Patel is a dirty cop, Homan is a racist, ICE must be abolished, and on and on. Senators and congresspeople give this stuff life from the floors of congress. And when they're not doing that, they're carrying water for the latest virtue signal that everyone must comply with or they will hang a label on them. That's falling in line with trans ideology or you're a bigot, wear a mask or you're a murderer, vote for the democrat or you're uneducated fascist, make a land acknowledgement or you're a supporter of genocide, capitalism is the devil and must be destroyed, accept that racism is systemic or you're a racist, if you are a white male, you are the problem, etc. Wash, rinse, repeat. At the same time they squash legitimate news. "we can't report that the person who shot up that school was trans," or "we can't report that more people voted in more than 50% of all democrat precincts in Philly than there are actually registered voters." These aren't 10% of crazies. So much of this has become mainstream on the left, and the media is a happy accomplice. And so many politicians who were once moderate have coalesced to this, as have many of the network pundits. It's lead to an entire DSA movement that's actually winning elections and threatening the very existence of the mainstream democrat party.

All of this makes the other side draw lines in the sand and dig in. Red hat wearing magas aren't 10% of republicans. It's mainstream. And this is why. And you can add to the fact that as recently as Obama, 90% of Trump's platform were things that Obama/Hillary agreed with/advocated for. Trump has broken the brains of the left. He's a phenomenon where he's personally unpopular but can still win the popular vote in the election, because his platform is far less crazy.

Fox news loves to latch on a specific issue and scare you about it and tell you why the neighbor next door who votes democrat is evil. Some of their longterm personalities blindly carry water for the Trump admin without any critical thought applied. This is why I don't care to spend much time watching fox news either. But fox news doesn't have the platform that mainstream media outlets do.

But at the end of the day, it isn't that the 10% is affecting or defining the 90%. There are fundamental shifts in core beliefs and a complete divorce from common sense going on in this country. And if we keep minimizing it, or saying that it's too small to matter, or whatever, we're going to be past the point of no return after we can do anything about it. The normies have to reclaim the country.
