Nobody in the Power 4 has played an easier schedule than South Carolina through two games. I think they’re probably better than they were last year when they went 4-8 but it’s almost impossible to know much about them from their games this season.

Those passing numbers against Towson are disgusting. They’ve run the ball very well so far but they should run the ball well against that level of competition. They didn’t score an offensive touchdown against Towson until about just under 4 minutes to go until halftime on Saturday. And it was a two touchdown game until basically the final play of the 3rd quarter.

That’s a tough place to play, and we’re not a totally proven commodity yet, but we’ve looked really impressive through two games and I’m not sure if South Carolina is all that good. Would not be shocked at all if we won this game by a touchdown or more.

Briles has pretty much been runoff the last two stops.
Yeah I feel like 2021 Arkansas gave him a reputation that he hasn’t lived up to since. His TCU offenses were just OK. Are we supposed to be terrified of a guy who was in the Big 12 for 3 years and basically had borderline Top 40 offenses for the most part?

Point spreads are all about getting the most people to place bets. People aren't going to expect Miss St to win an SEC game just based on reputation, but they don't want to give S Carolina too many points so that the betting distribution stays level.
While that's true - the best way to get even money on both sides is with the most accurate line possible. Games with large spreads are a different story, but if it's 2 TDs or less, they need to get it close.

The line doesn't need to be accurate. It needs to match the perception of the betting public. 7.5 obviously did not do that too well.

And I don't even understand the discussion of how many points home field is worth. The spread is what it is. A bettor should factor home field into his choices.
