Starting to get a little heat b/c he said in a presser that an AI video of Sark slapping Holly Rowe was funny. It'll be interesting to see it picks up steam or fizzles out.

I liked Dave Chappell's response when he was getting attacked on twitter over his trans comments. He said "social media isn't a real place" and went on with his life.

I remember reading an article a few years ago that said less than 2% of the adult population is responsible for 98% of the posts on social media. Lazy reporters are the only people who put much credence into social media.

The thing that gets me is the mob extracts this apology on social media but to what end? He can't change the fact that he saw it and thought it was funny, and I can guarantee you he still thinks it's funny. It's like someone else I saw posted the clip from the movie "Airplane!" where people, including men, are lining up to slap the hysterical woman. It was so absurd as to not be taken seriously.

I was hoping he wouldn't apologize but expected that he would. Now there are posts calling on Sark to apologize for it. Like, what is he supposed to apologize for in regard to the AI video? It's like a wife having a dream about her husband cheating and then being mad at him when she wakes up.

The apology was fine. If the video wasn't about her being physically assaulted, I doubt it would be a big deal. Laughing about a video, even a fake one, where is shows someone physically assaulting a female doing her job is not something most people could get away with joking around about at our job when we are a representative of the company. I would hope they wouldn't be fired, but I would suspect they might get talked to by upper management.

The outrage online was not proportional either. It was way too much.

He's a younger man. He's learning and made a mistake given the subject matter.

It's also worth noting, given some people with many followers have attacked her about it for no reason, Holly Rowe didn't complain about it or ask for an apology.

Maybe he's sorry he bothered to comment on it publicly, but he obviously still thinks it's funny. The mob just needs to extract their apology.

And, the AI video in question probably ended up with 50x more views than it otherwise would have if people hadn't complained about it.

That actually happened to me. Wife dreamed I cheated on her with my hair dresser. Came home and showered. So one day I got my hair cut, came home where she was napping on the couch and told her I was taking a shower to get the hair off. What an unnecessary argument that was.

I found that X is just a battleground for political enemies. I joined Twitter in 2010 while I was bored at Disney waiting on my family. I joined to get football insider info. No matter how hard I tried someone always ended up abusing me for something. I deleted it for good-permanently, and for my own good. Life is too short to be angry about what some basement loser has to say about anything. Same for Threads.

It's unfortunately an effective tool for the mob.

I wouldn't have known anything about the story if I hadn't seen it here. I think the best thing for Arch to have done would have been to ignore the story. The ADHD attention span of the media and public would have moved on within 24 hours if he hadn't responded to the "outrage".

I agree that the best thing to do is just ignore the mob. Most people can't/won't do that. Sydney Sweeney did it with that jeans ad.

Reality is that social media is now integral to college football. It's integral to recruiting. It's integral to NIL. Arch, as a player, now has sponsorship deals. Texas is paying him a lot of money to play. I'm sure he was told to apologize. Folks on X were starting to call on some of the companies he sponsors to drop him or punish him in some way.
