NoDo I believe will test both our O and D lines. I think coming out of this game, we should have a good idea of where these groups stand. They way it looks right now is we are still aways away on the Dline. We're gonna have to get creative come conference play to get any sort of pressure.

North Dakota is very well coached and play quality teams every year. They are used to winning and will be the hunter. They won’t be intimidated. This seems like an overly high spread. I’m hoping this brings out our best- could be a real nail biter.

Experienced QB with Coleandra numbers. His mobility hurts us. I’m still not convinced our defensive line is improved and while the offensive line may have improved- it’s still a question mark for me.

I swear people don’t even know which team is coming to Lincoln on Saturday. You’re clearly thinking about North Dakota State (NDSU). While UND is currently a pretty good FCS team, they’re not used to winning anything of substance.

I expect them to be difficult and be just as tough as Ohio was early, but we should pull away in the second half again and get ready for Sparty.

While Ndsu has a much deeper history. Google North Dakota and their coaching staff like I did. . Last year North Dakota made the playoffs and lost one score games to ndsu, k state, sdsu - all very competitive teams on par with Us. In their Head Coaches first year- they made the playoffs and had razor thin losses to several exceptional teams that are probably on par with Us.

I’ll be honest these first three games are annoying. We will be through the better part of a month and still have no idea if our team is good. Not saying Mich St are world beaters - but I’m so looking forward to that game to see what we have.
The first three games on the schedule are a joke. And the fact that the FCS team on the schedule is being talked about as the toughest game of the three is a bigger joke. Nebraska should be embarassed.

I don’t have to Google them. I’m well aware of Missouri Valley football.

To call K-State good last year is just incorrect.

My words were “competitive - on par with nebraska.” K state was on par or better than us last year if you look at their scores. They beat a ranked team by 13.
Only a month prior to us getting crushed by Utah- k state lost to the utes by just 4. In that game Utah had to score 2 touchdowns in last 3 minutes to win the game. That means k-state pretty much on par or better than us per the data. Were we in same universe as Utah? SDSU and ndsu are definitely on par with our Huskers. Kstates only loss by more than a single score was against a pretty good Texas tech team . Chalking North Dakota up as automatic win with big spread doesn’t make sense- hope we win- cautious for sure.

You need to actually get a clue and and see who these other teams are playing in these big conferences you’re clueless.

Agree. Guess it's just about the money again as the games will be sold out one way or another. Not playing a quality team in the first three games gets no creditability at all.

SDSU - no
K-state is also a definite yes

Sdsu made the playoffs last year and have consistently given power 4 teams very competitive games. They were very close to being on par with us last season. Sad but true.
North Dakota isnt an automatic win. They are on a roll and definitely will come in expecting an upset.

SDSU won back to back FCS championships a few years back. I’ve watched a lot of SDSU football through the years. It’s a successful program, no doubt. They would struggle as a FBS school. They’re not the same type of program as NDSU.

did I just imagine a full slate of marquee non-con games on Saturday?

I said they were on par - competitive with us. They are- unfortunately at this juncture- they just are. North Dakota is very competitive with SDSU and ndsu now which makes them someone we can not chalk up as a big point spread win.
Youve backed off k-state and now ndsu - so at least 2 of 3 you now agree with. SDSU deserves to be in that group also . Very solid program well led.

I never said anything about K-State. That was someone else.

I agreed NDSU is currently a program on par with Nebraska.

SDSU is not. UND is not - and the 24.5 point spread agrees with that statement.

UND has been better of late. Pretty solid team that we need to take seriously. NDSU got up big on Air Force Saturday then played a lot of subs and held on for the win. AF scored late to make the game look closer than it was.

Why would you play marquee non-con games, when the committee has shown strength of schedule doesn't matter. We already play in the B1G which in the committees eyes is one of the top conferences. IF OSU loses 2 conference games (i.e. Indiana, Michigan, Oregon) this year, do you honestly think the committee is going to put them over a 2 loss SEC team or 2 loss ACC team?

this is completely incorrect

every fringe decision the CFP committee has ever made has favored the team that played an actual game in Sept

better luck next time, coward

Notre Dame would disagree with you.

Unfortunately, in this day and age it's all about the money in Collge football. What do you think pays more an appearance to a non playoff bowl game or a playoff bowl game? You don't seem to be a very good business man. As a fan would it be fun to watch these games, of course. Is it fiscally smart for fringe teams to be playing these games, nope. Don't let your fandom (hatred for Nebraska) cloud what little intellectual cognizance you have left.

As husker fans were always doing this. I’ll make no predictions because I don’t trust Matt Rhule. He can gain some back on Saturday with a statement win. If he squeaks this one out, color me surprised

This thread has quickly turned into a microcosm of how fragile the psyche of our fan base is. I ***** about Rhule as much as anyone but it seems we can’t even enjoy a minor reprieve of early season success.
Based on Coach Rhules teams past performances and the level of competition this week- does it really surprise you? I’m hoping they can baby step to 6 or maybe even 7 wins this year but I’m very doubtful

your example is an independent?

no P4 team has ever been left out of the CFP because of a non-con game against a marquee opponent. not a single one.

on the flip side, multiple have been chosen because they scheduled those games. including at least one team that lost their marquee non-con matchup, which the CFP did not count against them.

Given where our program is right now, I think there would be benefit in playing a more challenging noncon. Maybe if they got punched in the nose a little more in the noncon, they might be more prepared when it happens in conference play and they can actually win some of those meaningful conference games in late October and November. Limping to the finish line every year is a lot bigger problem for this program than stubbing its toe in September.

Michigan wiped the Western Michigan egg off their face by beating OU. If they played and beat North Dakota instead of OU, people would still be making fun of them because of the Western Michigan result.
