Is he the perfect coach? Absolutely not, but nobody is. His offense is exciting to watch and it’s a fun brand of football. Sucks when trying to close out on games, but it may be one of those situations where you have to take the good with the bad. Hutzler was one of the worst hires in school history and keeping him after year 1 was maddening, but we cannot go backwards. Excited to see more for the first time in a while.

At this moment in time, props to AD Mr. Selmon for sticking to his guns on him.

My take is that it's too early for this. He did what he had to do yesterday because it was must win. But this team still has to go find three SEC wins. If the goal is six wins to save Lebby's job, Sc, vandy, and auburn are must wins and if you drop one of those it means having to pull a big upset somewhere else.

I expected us to beat MN but I was surprised at the overall performance. We were terrible in the third quarter though and Lebby has to fix that. Now the real tests start.

"he did what he had to do yesterday because it was a must win", dang, can't even give the man credit for his win yesterday and make it sound like anyone could have done it because it was a must win.

It was an impressive win, and KT is looking great. It was also just the 2nd team with a pulse that Lebby has beaten in 27 tries since coming to State.

Then Sigma gives a shoutout to Selmon as if it’s a foregone conclusion that we’re headed for 6 wins which is really the bare minimum expectation for this season.

Drebin can speak for himself, but I don’t think he’s discounting yesterday’s W. I think he’s just saying to maybe ease up a bit and let the season play out before we start handing out contract extensions

We win a game and idiots come out with the "i told you sos". Then when we start crapping the bed, they all disappear like farts in the wind.

Honestly they are no different than the crowd who every time we win? “well I’m still not satisfied”, and when we lose the same ones are screaming “I told you!”
Both groups are equally ridiculous

You been negative for two years. You don’t think Lebby will succeed nor do you want him too. Fans want to be excited and they should. So stop trying find the negative about yesterday.

i've maintained from his hire date that you couldn't actually judge him until year 3. You gotta take the maroon colored glasses off when looking at the last year of the Leach era. imo he would've been fired or forced to quit in 1-2 years. the guys he was recruiting weren't cutting it and neither was his play calling if you actually go back and remember how it was. then arnette comes in, which was the right call i believe, but i'd put money on he was told he wasn't getting the job around game 3 or 4 and just...stopped all coaching and recruiting activities. Lebby comes into not just a rebuild, but a from the studs up remodel all while the first year on the job. we had what, 5 coaches in 6 years or something like that? there had been 0 consistency and all the guys were recruited to run different schemes. IMO Lebby has done a helluva job so far remodeling the program.

Its not just about winning, its the way we've won. Sorry some of us want to move forward & not look back. Some of you need to stop waiting for the next shoe to drop & enjoy it. We're going to win some games this year.
Great post. But we have a small group in this fan base that doesn’t want Lebby to succeed. Most likely you could name those by simply looking at who and who hasn’t posted today. It’s sad they don’t want to enjoy the victory yesterday and the upcoming wins.

Bingo. But yeah we look good so far, no doubt.

I’d say the Arizona State game last year was a bigger win than this one. We see how that went.

So which is it? Do fans want to be excited or do fans need to get off their butts and support the program?

You need to stick to a narrative.

But before that you need to stop preaching to people.

There's exactly zero people. Let me say aGAIN...ZERO people who don't want Lebby to succeed if they are actually State fans. It's an old, tired jeanspage narrative.

When you say absolute bullshlt like this, you prove my point and you prove me right. Your attitude that you're a better State fan than everyone including me is flawed. You're actually proving that you're not.

Pay your money, spend your life ignoring and dealing with tough realities, and keep thinking hope is an effective strategy. But don't expect others to be that stupid - that's a you thing.

Well maybe we need to win a little more. That's the flaw in this argument since it's been recent history. We had a big nonconference win early in the year last year too. It was followed by a 1-7 conference record.

We won, I had a thought that we should invest for those that don’t. Im Not sure why you have issues.. don’t you agree we should invest in the program? You are angry little fellow today

This is not like giving to the BC or the school. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, should be pressured to give to NIL. If you want to, fine. But that’s a rich man’s game.

Rich guys are motivated on their own. To try and push this “keep up with Jones” narrative is a false hope. The job of the average joes is to come to games and rep merchandise. Not fund millions of dollars in player payments.

Hard to not be excited. We are nasty on offense with a superstar leading the way.

The sky is the limit for this team. I would not trade offenses with OM.

Exhibit 1,541,418 for why you get clowned on these boards.

You think you're better and more virtuous than everyone, that you can preach to them how they spend their money, and that you know better than them about how they should think about the program, their own lived experience be damned. And when you get challenged on all of this, and can offer not a shred of an argument to support your position, here we go with the "little man" stuff, and the "you want the staff to fail" stuff. It's all lazy and low IQ. And speaking of low IQ, just so you know, I'm not a little man. If you were brave enough to meet me at south farm, or the sonic of your choice, you'd have to look up at me to call me a little man. So until we meet at south farm, with all evidence before us currently, I'll continue to assume you're a piece of shlt until you take an approach that proves otherwise. And I wouldn't normally pull the south farm card, but that's the kind of stuff you jeanspagers love to do from behind your keyboard so I thought I'd speak in a way that might resonate.

I’d say the Arizona State game last year was a bigger win than this one. We see how that went.

The difference to me is that the ASU win was a close win at home that you can argue was a little fluky. They totally dominated the second half and we scored the winning TD because a free blitzer tripped over our TE’s feet.

Whereas we beat Minnesota to a bloody pulp and the result of that game was never in doubt from pretty much the early 2nd quarter on. In their home stadium. I mean we beat this team by 25 and basically ended the game with the ball inside their red zone for what felt like half an hour just trying to kill clock and only halfway trying to score.

No you were not wrong on Lebby. He underperformed bigly the last two seasons and deserves the resulting criticism. He has made some big mistakes and at the top of the list are hiring an awful DC then doubling down with him for another season. With that said, he made a very good make-up hire with Arnett who was probably responsible for the win on Sat. These last two games have given us much reason to hope but there is still a long way to go before saying he has it figured out.

The difference to me is depicted by the win probability graph from each game. Against ASU it rose steadily from the first half to 93% in Q3 to a 92% chance of losing in a quarter and a half. We were damn lucky to win. Against MN we dominated from the beginning and stayed that way the entire game.

Yeah for me it was over on Saturday once we went up 14-3 because I didn’t think they were capable of scoring more than 14 points (turns out I was correct) and I knew we were getting to at least the mid 20’s.

That game was closer to being 45-8 than it was to Minnesota keeping it within two touchdowns.
