E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!! '26 Birds - Commanders, Game 1, game thread

[Tom McAndrew]

Finally, the season opener is upon us. So many questions about this very talented team. How will Sean Mannion do as OC? He's calling games from the press box, which is something Jalen hasn't experienced with an OC in the NFL. From all accounts, the Birds really did not show much from their offense this preseason, so we finally get to see how much their approach will vary from previous seasons. And most importantly, we get to see how Mannion responds to changing defensive moves during the course of the game.

@LionJim is curious to see how the the Commanders look in their season opener. Though for most Birds fans, we don't care how they look as long as the Birds win the game.

Go Birds!!!

Go Birds!!!

Hoping for Jalen under center and lots of pre snap motion. Love to see a type of 49ers offense with motion and misdirection

Commanders with a 55-yard FG attempt on their opening drive, and it's good.

3-0, Commanders, with 11:23 left in the 1st qtr.

And I’m seeing the game that never ends between Detroit and New Orleans.

[LionJim]

I’m at the St. Louis airport, boarding in 15 minutes.

The running game is off to a slow start.

So far, I'd say the entire O is off to a slow start, other than a few big plays.

The OL blocking schemes still look out of sync. They will also miss AJ dearly when they need a big play.

The Saquon run made that drive. Amazing what happens when they can run the football.

The Skins D is selling out for pressure. They’re ripe for some huge Eagles plays.

[Bwifan]

The amount of pre snap motion on offense I am loving. Huge kudos to Mannion

[WestSideLion]

The D can’t let them convert 3rd and 15 like that.

TD, Goedert!!!!!

TD, Dallas!!!!!

Commanders score a TD, but the Birds (Jalen Carter) block the PAT.

14-9, Birds, with 1:53 left in the 2nd qtr.

Best drive of the game for the Commanders. Big play was a 3rd & 15. Birds blitzed, and Daniels stepped inside and scampered for 14.
