OT: TVs - Samsung, Sony, or LG?

Looking for a new 55 inch TV. What do you guys have and what do you recommend?

I'm the reverse. All my tvs were Samsung but been switching them out to LG.

I don't know if Samsung has improved but older ones say 7-10 yrs were bad at updating their apps and internal OS. I barely got any OS updates and very few app updates. I'd get issues with apps freezing or hanging.

With LG, I get OS updates regularly and app updates as well. Knock on wood no issues so far in the last few years that I've swapped out tvs.

Got the LG tvs from either Best Buy or Costco.

I have one of each. I also have a Vizio and Roku. 6 total televisions in my house. They are all good. I bought all of them at BJ's. Whenever I need a TV i go to BJ's and see which is the best deal. Bring your phone and google top 10 televisions and go to an independent reviewer and see which one is the highest rated. They always have a good deal on some brand

I got a LG C5 last year. So far so good, the pic is tremendous. I replaced a Samsung that was giving me issues.

They are both solid choices LG and Samsung, part of it is luck how long they last tbh.

I did the same. Used to be all Samsung and am still mad at them from the TV I bought 10 years ago. Sun sports all over the screen. LG OLED all the way now.

Have had multiple Samsungs (bought 5-6 years ago) and have had issues with both.

Sometimes they turn on randomly by themselves. The color / picture on my 55 inch gets distorted every now and then.

While they look nice, I won’t be buying another Samsung again.

This has been our experience with Samsung as well. With our 65” set, currently 4 years old, we’re fed up with all the freezing, forcing us to turn off the power and turn it back on immediately to get it to work again. My wife and I are looking at other options as we speak.

I am a Vizio fan and have three of them at home, one in the office. LEDs are a commodity. Shop the specs. My recollection is that the Vizio option was 25% or more less expensive. My oldest LED is a Vizio that has had some issues. I have a Vizio in a box on the floor nearby that I will probably switch out today.

Then again, I don't destroy a TV when UMass beats Rutgers, so haven't bought new in a year.

Spend the extra money on an OLED, you won’t regret it. I have both Samsung and LG OLEDs, both have outstanding picture. And even better, they have unlimited viewing angles, most regular LEDs have limited viewing angles.

I’ve had a few Vizio’s over the years and I agree they’re a good value but mine all had reliability issues

I have a Hisense too (for a spare room), but didn’t buy it from Costco. They offer the cheaper models, and while they’re priced well the picture quality suffers.

I bought mine at Best Buy and this model has a great picture and very good viewing angles for a non-OLED.

Sony has the best 4K HDR picture when it's working, but my XR65A95L had a bunch of issues and had to replace the motherboard and power supply under warranty after only a few months. I also notice audio lip sync issues at times with Sonos playbar, which may be since it uses a digital optical audio cable, rather than eARC HDMI, but it's never fixed with adjustments and comes back at times based on the content and streaming or cable box. Sony is definitely overpriced, but I got a sick deal that made it less than the others. There needs to be more live 4K HDR content, especially sports. LG and Samsung a bit too bright and oversaturated for my preference. I also have an LG that is also quirky and I don't care for their remote or interface. I prefer Sony's Google TV interface.

We have LG OLED TVs (big one for the basement and a smaller one for the TV/family room). Love both of them. Best picture I have ever seen. They have some sizes available via Costco, so good pricing.

Got a 77" LG OLED as well.....for NFL games and the expanded CFP games I won't be watching (but still trolling about).
