By that logic then to exaggerate the point why not a high school coach or a D2 or D3 coach right up into the P2.

Why do many college coaches fail in the NFL, even the most successful ones like Meyer and Saban.

Every time you step up a level, the ability of the teams you face goes up and the acumen of the coaches you face goes up.

So you want to see how a candidate does with each step up in “difficulty” so to speak. Any choice isn’t a guarantee but the more of a track record you have against better competition as you go up the ladder, the better chances that your choice might work. Of course there can exceptions like Tressel or Klieman but I don’t think it’s a bad rule of thumb to have.

X’s and O’s Are the same.

Some people prefer and are better relating to pros. Some prefer managing kids. Others like mix. So while yes - not exactly the same - X’s and O’s abs strategy and football iq are the same needed - same!

we need a WINNER!

Every time you step up it’s another level of difficulty both with ability and acumen of players and coaches you’re going to against.

It’s no different for school, work, etc in real life. Every time you step up it’s harder and as you prove you can manage and be successful with these steps up the more your proving yourself as potentially ready for the next step. Try to skip too many steps in between the greater the chance you can fall on your face.

Once again - a new 1st year head coach pulls a huge upset - something Greg hasn’t done (at least in 2.0 era).

congrats to OkSt!!
That's Oil money, we don't have enough NIL to entice that type of up and comer. There were quite a few teams after him. With what we have, we'll be shooting for lightning in a bottle. I have no illusion that Rutgers will get this right with such a limited pool.

OSU should have kicked the FG. Go up 13-0 and don't give them a spark. Too many riverboat gambler coaches now with this new analytics bullsh*t. Analytics doesn't account for emotion and momentum.

T Boone is dead and not sure he’s as much of a sugar daddy from the beyond to the the AD as Phil Knight has said he’d be after he passes.

Eric Morris makes 3.8M, it’s not some break the bank salary. Being a Texas guy and moving from UNT to Ok St is a natural fit.

Analytics made the OSU game a 13-0 game and dead to rights Texas into to 10-3 game with Texas hope restored. Computer nerds telling coaches what to do, is one of the stupidest things that has been adopted in today's football.

Just saw the James Madison score 87-3 against Wagner. James Madison should be ashamed of themselves. Still passing late into the 4th quarter and scored with 22 secs. left on a one yd. plunge. WTF is wrong with some of these coaches?

And don't give that well you have to stop it bullsh*t. You don't continue to throw nor do you score up 80-7 with 22 secs left. Bill Napier is a scumbag prick.

UCLA up 7-3 on SDSU in the 4th qtr but inside redzone.

Sean Lewis is an offensive guy but last year his defense was pretty good and offense eh. His DC went to Nerbraska iirc but his defense looks decent again with the offense eh again too. UCLA TD to go up 14-3 with 7 mins left

I would take a high scoring scumbag prick for a head coach over our current one. I'm not getting any younger

There's playing to win and getting kids time in scrub time is one thing Then there's this and just being a prick. Up 73-3 with 5 mins. left and continuing to throw. Is a prick move. At the 1yd. line with 24 secs. left up 80-3 and running it in, is a prick move.

Butts are starting to pucker on the OSU sideline.

Mannings legs are going to get him concussed in the NFL just like Dart.
