Are they the most underrated team in the CCL?
Here is a set of Chicago Catholic League power rankings after yesterday's games. The number to the right of the team's record represents how many points they would be expected to lose to Mt. Carmel by. [The bottom nine teams in the league have not been listed.]

1. Mt. Carmel (3-1) 0.0
2. Brother Rice (2-2) 8.2
3. Loyola (4-0) 9.8
4. Montini (3-1) 17.8
5. Fenwick (3-1) 18.6
6. IC Catholic (4-0) 19.2
7. Nazareth (1-3) 20.0
8. Providence (4-0) 20.8
9. Marist (2-2) 25.6
10. St. Rita (2-2) 28.8
11. St. Ignatius (3-1) 29.0
12. Joliet Catholic (2-2) 32.0
13. Carmel (2-2) 34.8
14. St. Francis (1-3) 34.9

Nonsense! IC has better results than Fenwick against both DePaul and St. Ignatius.

My hot take is that Fenwick is not that good of a football team this year and would lose to Nazareth by a couple scores and will lose against Providence. I'd like them to prove me wrong, but I think people are still too high on them after last year. They lost many players and don't have anywhere near the same team.

If you’re getting these numbers from Massey ratings- you should recheck tomorrow. They don’t update until Sunday or Monday. Also they are not exactly gospel- they had Montini with a 17% chance to win against Naz, getting like 19 points. Also had fenwick giving 6 points against iggy

Putting coaches change aside, I think PC is top 5. MC/BR/LA/PC/Montini...in no particular order. NAZ might be there at the end of year but not right now. I will put IC right there on the outside of the top 5.

Why does Edgy keep removing threads about HC Plantz firing at providence? Its a local, regional, and national news story and should be a tremendous driver of traffic to this message board.
This message board has been dying since the ON3 transition, and Edgy’s refusal to allow a discussion about the biggest Illinois high school football story of this season is further fuel to the fire that is a dying message board.

I do not agree at all. It is still a board dictated by CCL comments but protecting athletes and coaches from a similar situation as what was LWE/HF is in his best interest. Personally, I feel the facts get skewed as longer conversations and wild accusations are made which are made by keyboard warriors with agendas. Edgy runs a board with class and integrity for HS followers.

Could the reason that this board is constantly drowned in CCL talk be partly because topics like Plantz firing are forbidden from being discussed on this board?
The only fact of the situation at this point is he was fired mid-season and the two sides have not revealed a concrete, agreed upon reason. That leads to speculation, which is what everyone on this board is interested in diving into to uncover the facts of why it happened.
posters will simply leave and “enjoy discussing on Facebook” as Edgy told us. Or Twitter. Or the Sun times. Or USA Today. Anywhere but here, apparently.

I agree with both of the above posts. Edgy runs a very classy board but I also think this topic should be able to be discussed especially since it doesn't violate any of the board rules. Not sure why threads keep getting flushed w/o breaking rules.

I really would like to keep the conversation going.

I think it was flushed because someone made a comment that could’ve been deemed offensive that had nothing to do with Plantz’s firing. It’d be better if those types of comments could just be removed without flushing the full thread. Ideally, threads are full of comments that have to do with what is being discussed. Not sure if it was the case on the “Providence” thread, but the comment I’m referencing was about today’s military (nothing to do with the actual thread)

People cried and said it’ll get flushed because my comment about Provi players getting coach plantz brothers monetary scholarship and that provi coaches landed jobs at coach plantz fathers company the same time they started coaching at provi. Neither are slander or gossip. You can see the award recipients online as well as the coaches LinkedIn profiles

In my experience on this board (and I've been very guilty of this too) I saw a couple posts that I knew were going to upset Edgy but most of them were in line. @Edgytim cant the violating post be removed instead of entire thread and send them an email saying what the board violation was? I got a couple of those when it was the old board 😂.

Remove the post not the thread and if you notice your post was removed then don't double down on it and re-post. We're adults, you know if your crossing the line, again, I can't cast the first stone! You took a shot and missed. Send a private message to someone if you want.

I would imagine that all of the coaches that are employed at Plantz family company will step away from coaching at Providence in solidarity with the fired HC.
There is a Mike fortuna Twitter thread with over 1.5 Million views (!), and several former players and alumni have spoken out strongly against the firing.

Absolutely not. When Lenti was replaced there was pages upon pages of posts, mostly negative, mostly against MC, and mostly by MC fans and supporters. It was definitely taken down but a lot of rope was given and I understand why, it was a huge topic. Last month the Lynch practice suspension came with a lot of negativity but it went on for awhile. So no, there is no CCL privilege. I've been around this board long enough to know when a thread will get flushed for crossing Edgys line, my posts have been the reason for a few.

I don’t think that’s bad at all and wouldn’t think that’s the reason it was flushed. Figure unless you posted names it wouldn’t violate any rules. Can’t say for certain though. I figured it was the comment referencing the military. Once I read it I figured it was only a matter of time before the thread would be flushed

It is my understanding that Providence is holding an emergency advisory board meeting tonight to discuss/address the situation. What a complete mess on all fronts.
Yup, this is a stain that isn't going to go away with repeated washing. I don't understand in modern times why any organization, institution, or whatever finds withholding information to be the best step forward. Transparency and truth remain an art... Somebody at Providence is fine with this type of negative publicity, that much seems to be evident given how this has been handled. Weird stuff man...

I think some of you are overthinking this: @Edgytim relies on the relationship with schools and coaches. If he allows some of you to trash individual coaches, or coaching staffs, or the schools they're well in the rights to tell him to go pound sand when he wants to talk to a player/attend a game. Beyond that, if I'm a coach William McKinley HS and I see that posters are trashing the coaching staff at Grover Cleveland HS, why am I going to allow ET at my place when I know it could happen to me?

Cant take a round back after it's been shot and if I were him I wouldn't take it back if offered. I would assume there board had to approve a move of this magnitude right? Unless this Fathers power is absolute....stand by I guess.

Everything about this stinks.

The lack of transparency only fuels the rumors, including some pretty serious ones. But as more time passes—with no police involvement, no players disciplined, and TP releasing his own statement—it’s hard not to question how Provi handled this and what other behind-the-scenes factors may have been at play.

There’s still so much speculation and people taking sides. Just awful for everyone involved.

What also surprises me is the AD. He’s an old-school Provi guy who has been around forever and involved through all those championship years. From what I remember, he was always about winning, the program and team first. I’m shocked he would support a move like this, especially at 4-0 and with the program seemingly headed in the right direction.

This is a program that has had only three head coaches since the 1960s and was getting back to being dominant again. Hearing the reaction from alumni, especially football alumni, I think this could have a ripple effect for years.

It’s good they’re having an emergency meeting, but the damage has already been done. And even if they realize they made a major mistake, why would TP want to come back at this point—other than wanting to help the players finish what they started?

Again, I just hope this doesn’t derail their season. They have something special going, and hopefully the players can keep moving forward while the “adults” figure everything else out.
