Seattle's Ezi Magbegor tore her ACL playing for Australia. Will miss the remainder of the season and likely 2027 as well.

I understand it's unlikely to happen, but I can see why players like A'ja would rather miss the world cup to rest than risk injury and miss the playoffs/next season.

So why did the 12 players on the team and the countless who didn't make the cut want to play. Are Clark and Boston not just as important to the Fever and their chance to win a title? Why is Stewie on the team? She already has 3 world cup gold medals. You risk injury everytime you walk out on the floor be it practice or a game. Aja could tear an ACL working out during the break.

The thing that will be remembered by fans is that ironically, an injury was disclosed just before the USA competition, after she was healthy enough to play for her team last month averaging 25/9 and 2 blks/game. Near 50% from the field and played an average of 33 min/game. She was named the Western Conference's "Player of the month". And, remember that Lawson said she wasn't even notified about Wilson's decision. FFT.

Watching the replay of Spain vs Australia right now. Winner gets the USA. Meg looking pretty good so far.

Well, just finished watching Spain vs Australia. Spain won handily, and Meg led ALL scorers with 16. Feel bad for Sandy B because I like her, but happy for Meg getting to the Semi's to face USA on Saturday. Here's the box: Note: Meg's last name is listed as Gustafson, not DiLeo.

She should sit out the Aces' final four games of the season too probably. You know, to avoid getting injured. Aces are locked into the playoffs regardless. Might also be smart to sit out the first round. If the Aces fall behind in the series she could maybe play games 2 and 3 but only if necessary. Can't get tired or injured on the bench. And this way she'd be rested and healthy for the semis but if the Mystics pull the upset over GSV A'ja could probably sit out that series as well. No way Washington would have anything left for Vegas in the semis. Then she'd be fully rested and healthy for the finals.

Duh.

My big problem isn't even that she pulled out of the World Cup but that she did it at the 11th hour just days before the U.S.'s first game. That was just kind of a cold and self-important move.

I agree with the 11th hour point.

I'm just saying the timing of this tournament is poor and I get why people might sit it out. Agree the timing was shiddy.

Do you think she called them when the plane was on the tarmac and told them she wasn't coming? They knew she was having back soreness and it was a possibility that she was going to withdraw. There was no benefit to making that decision earlier as it is not like the team worked out or practiced before departing and she wanted to wait as long as possible to see how she felt.

CC comes in down 7 takes them to up 8 and then gets benched again without even taking a shot. Vets proceed to throw the ball away and take bad shots. If you want to put them in and pound the paint, fine. But they aren't doing that. This team is hard to watch and Lawson is struggling to manage egos.

Crazy but it's time for Geno to take control again. He won't give a crap and even if he doesn't love CC he won't bench her as long.
