I'm guessing immigration. Border crossings are down, deportations are up, ICE violence reinforces the idea that Trump has an aggressive anti-immigration policy.

As someone who has never thought immigration was that big a problem, that looks bad to me, but I can see that those who were riled up about immigration could like Trump's policies on this issue.

I can't think of anything else. What else do those who approve of Trump feel good about?

MAGA members love everything. Gulf of America, Lake America, aggressive ICE members, gas prices, grocery prices, AI pictures, etc. They are all in on everything. These are people like TigerGrowls, WDDT, Rifler, Northern, and FatPiggy.

Traditional Republicans who are more balanced and stable approve of the 401k results and immigration policies. I don't think they particularly like the constant trolling and immaturity that Trump displays but looking the other way isn't hard for them.

I how some of our actual Trump fans chip in here. After all, there may be some good things I'm not thinking about.
I'll chip in. I used AI for the below because it made it easier. You will see that Trump is actually doing things that Clinton and Obama did, but I can certainly see the "the way he is doing it is awful" approach many trump haters will take. I personally cannot STAND to listen to Trump, but actually agree with some of his policies.

1. Aggressive border enforcement and sharp drop in illegal crossings

Trump’s second-term policies (ending catch-and-release, high use of expedited removal, ending certain parole programs, military support at the border, and sustained low encounter numbers) produced historically low southwest border crossings.
Democratic parallel: Obama’s administration carried out large-scale interior enforcement and deportations (often exceeding 400,000 removals in peak years) and was frequently labeled “Deporter-in-Chief” by progressive critics even while mainstream Democrats largely accepted or defended the enforcement framework as necessary. Clinton also oversaw significant immigration enforcement alongside welfare reform.

2. Prioritizing removal of criminal non-citizens + broader interior enforcement

Trump expanded ICE arrests and focused resources on removals, including of those with criminal records.
Democratic parallel: Obama’s formal enforcement priorities explicitly targeted criminals, recent border crossers, and national-security threats. Democrats at the time often praised the “smart enforcement” approach that concentrated on public-safety threats rather than purely status-based removals.

3. Pressuring NATO allies to increase defense spending

Trump has pushed allies hard (toward higher GDP targets, including rhetoric around 5%) and secured commitments for significantly increased European defense spending.
Democratic parallel: Obama repeatedly and publicly urged NATO members to meet the 2% GDP spending guideline, criticized European “complacency,” and warned that the United States could not indefinitely carry a disproportionate share. This was framed as responsible alliance management by most Democrats.

4. Large-scale federal workforce reductions and efficiency drives

Through DOGE and related efforts, the administration has carried out rapid reductions in the federal civilian workforce (hundreds of thousands via firings, buyouts, and attrition) and canceled or scrutinized contracts.
Democratic parallel: The Clinton-Gore “Reinventing Government” initiative reduced the federal workforce by roughly 377,000–400,000 positions over several years, largely through buyouts and attrition. It was widely praised by Democrats as modernizing and streamlining government.

5. Work requirements tied to certain benefits

Provisions in major legislation and policy have expanded or tightened work/community-service expectations for able-bodied adults receiving certain assistance.
Democratic parallel: Clinton’s 1996 welfare reform (Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act) imposed work requirements and time limits. It passed with significant Democratic support and was defended by many in the party as ending “welfare as we know it” while promoting self-sufficiency.

6. Emphasis on interior enforcement capacity and detention

Significant funding and operational expansion for ICE detention and removal capacity.
Democratic parallel: Both Clinton and Obama eras maintained and used substantial detention capacity as part of immigration enforcement. Obama’s administration expanded certain enforcement tools and detention use in service of its priority system.

7. Ending or sharply restricting catch-and-release practices at the border

Sustained periods of near-zero releases of border crossers into the interior.
Democratic parallel: Obama-era policies included expanded use of expedited removal and efforts to deter repeat illegal crossings. While the scale and rhetoric differ, the underlying goal of reducing releases and speeding removals was part of Democratic administrations’ enforcement toolkit.

8. Demanding greater burden-sharing from allies on collective defense

Public pressure and linkage of U.S. commitments to allies meeting spending targets.
Democratic parallel: Obama administration officials and the president himself made the same core argument for years — that wealthy European allies needed to spend more so the United States was not subsidizing their defense indefinitely.

Context on the reaction difference

  • When Clinton and Obama pursued workforce reductions, border/interior enforcement, or NATO burden-sharing, many Democrats described them as pragmatic, necessary, or evidence of “smart” government and tough-minded leadership.
  • The same categories of action under Trump are frequently characterized as cruel, chaotic, isolationist, or an attack on government itself — even when the operational goals (lower illegal crossings, more allied defense spending, leaner bureaucracy, work expectations for benefits) overlap substantially with prior Democratic practice.

you might have made this easier if you would have asked what and I trump supporters/voters are not happy about/don't like...and I'd bet you'd get different answers to this question from various supporters/voters. Because a lot of people who voted for trump are not happy with some of his policies/actions.

But what you asked originally was/is a great question.

Of course it wasn't a big problem for sheltered libs like you, but it was a big problem for thousands of children who were trafficked into the US for sex and slave labor. A national disgrace that this was allowed to happen. Were you even aware of it?

Thanks. That's great fodder for discussion.

You list 8 items. Four - 1, 2, 6 & 7 - have to do with Immigration, which I listed in my OP as the only thing I could think of.

That leaves 4. Two of those - 3 & 8 - are basically the same thing. Getting allies to pay a fair share on defense sounds good, but what is "fair share" and how does that get paid for? It's hard to judge in a world with 2 very harmful voluntary/criminal wars going on.

That leaves two.

4. Everyone is in favor of improved efficiency. Is Trump actually delivering on that? I'm not seeing it. Are you? Not everybody agrees with the layoffs - especially those that have harmed health care in the US and weather forecasting, just to mention 2 off the top of my head. Where are the audits?

5. Work requirements sound OK at first blush, but so often they seem to be contrived to harm those in need. I'd have to know more before I agree with the Trump approach.

As the board Russian apologist, I assume there is zero chance you're considering the Russian invasion of Ukraine as one of your 2 very harmful voluntary/criminal wars. Of course, you may shock me and not be talking about "something something Israel genocide and Iran...".

As for your question in OP, I'm interested in what the hell there is to approve of outside of the illegal immigration numbers being down.

You support Trump's separation of parents and children yet pretend to care about trafficking?

Trafficking is absolutely a horrid part of the immigration debacle, but not something Trump seems to want to fix. Frankly, I'm a little surprised Trump didn't appoint his buddy Epstein to handle that.

Predictably, you know nothing about the policy - which is similar to that of many police jurisdictions who have to 'separate' a parent from children when the parent gets put in jail for a crime.

Predictably, you are confused. The Biden admin lost track of thousands of unaccompanied migrant children, and did nothing to make things better - per this Biden DHS IG report.

That would mean the Biden admin covered it up for four years. Is that what you believe?

It would also mean that two Epstein lawyers were lying when they said they asked Epstein for info they could use against Trump, and Epstein couldn't provide any.

remind me who Epstein turned on among the dozens of co conspirators. That proves nothing. Let's see...

Greatly reduced the bloated federal workforce

Millions of jobs for American citizens at the same time, completely in the private sector

View attachment 1403251

Shut down the democrats open border while deporting record numbers of illegal aliens from our country

Inflation has cooled with core inflation now down to 2.5% and dropping overall with the straight of hormuz opening up (16 million barrels transported through last night)

Of course that also means the largest global sponsor of terror no longer has a shot at creating nuclear weapons, their inflation is currently sitting at 350% and they cannot move any of their nation's single greatest resource.

The stock markets all continue to break records, up ~17% in the last year. Trump accounts for kids are another fantastic economic opportunity for the next generation of Americans (even gavon newsom now admits trump accounts are amazing).

Oh, and the maduro raid was one of the greatest military operations in US history and our military has seen record recruitment gains since trump took back the Whitehouse. Lots of T as JHP would say ;)

This doesn't even get into trump re-writing the entire global energy story in real time.

Let's keep exploring all the Trump wins!!

Tied directly to border policy (and taking out narco terrorist boats at sea) has shown MASSIVE drops in fentanyl overdoses. But let's also give Kash Patel some kudos here, because..

Pretty powerful statistics. Crime in the Nation data shows a 20% drop in the murder rate and the largest year-over-year decline in violent crime on record. We also saw major decreases in rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary.

Not to mention the single largest financiers of groups like the kkk have been exposed and are currently being charged for their criminality. The Southern poverty law center is done and fraud organization ActBlue is next.

Then there is the beautification of DC as Trump cleans up the crime AND the trash.

https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/2060024026601255113

Beautiful. I will try and add more later if this isn't enough. Very impressive first 2 years for Trump and there's still 4 months left in 2026! The golden age is here!

Here you go OP. Trump is the best president in modern history. Much better than the last guy who lost hundreds of thousands of children to human trafficking via Democrat border policy

everyone should read that report...it is important, ,enlightening, and (importantly) does not say what riveting claims it does

first of all, the time period covered is FFY 2019-2023 - which is October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2023. that means that report covers 843 days of the first trump admin and 984 of the biden admin. so the "biden lost them" narrative is bullsh*t

and more generally, that report details a (SHOCKINGLY!) broken, overwhelmed immigration process in which federal agencies aren't equipped with the administrative capacity to handle the demands placed on them and aren't communicating with each other

it is important to note that it was the biden administration who undertook that report, through the office of inspector general (which the trump admin is systematically cutting throughout virtually every department)

is this a problem? yes. the report clearly states that and makes recommendations for improvement.

but this problem is only "biden lost the kids!" if you're an uncurious, dishonest jack@ss whose brain has been irrevocably broken by social media

but you point out a problem that needed/needs to be fixed. Our government, both administrations, and if the report went back further than FY2019 likely previous administrations as well, simply did not apply the resources and management time to the problem. So, little is gained by sticking fingers in other eyes and attempting to place blame, maybe it would be more productive to debate what to do going forward to solve the problems. And, IMO, this solution is not going to happen overnight and will involve this administration and. at least, the next one, we need bipartisanship. And, the way we are politically these days, good luck.

You can’t say someone is aggressively fighting DEI while they campaign for getting the sister of a dead senator, who has zero experience, elected to the senate.
to be fair, lindsey's sister is simply nepotism.

it doesn't represent any kind of diversity, equity, inclusion. she's being supported for no other reason than she's the sister of the previous senator. supporting her doesn't expand or improve the kinds of voices being heard in government. quite the opposite, really.

None of the Epstein party pals, such as dem icon Reid Hoffman, were in a position that could help Epstein get a deal like Trump could.

I am not talking about Biden prosecuting Trump, but about releasing damaging info once Trump was the official repub nominee. If they had info, they would have leaked it at the very least. Politics 101 - which apparently you didn't pass.

You support Trump which disqualifies you from evaluating anyone else’s knowledge about anything. It proves you can’t distinguish fact from fiction.

And your first paragraph shows a lack of critical thinking because that means Epstein should’ve rolled on everyone but Trump. I guess it’s a good thing in your eyes that Trump had him killed because two days earlier he told his attorney he was willing to talk. Then…. Dead. Mysteriously the camera is shut off and the guard receives a large deposit in her bank account. Then Bondi claims to release video, but releases videos that were clearly edited to protect whatever goon. Trump hired to kill Epstein.

face it. You worship a pedo.

Starting in the 60’s with civil rights and the Vietnam War, continuing into the 70’s with women’s rights and 80’s with gay rights, conservatives have lost the culture war. Journalists, academia, scientists, entertainers – all of the people who shape our culture --have embraced a more accepting and inclusive culture. Conservative values have lost.

This has made conservatives more and more resentful and fearful. The country that they knew, in their minds, has been taken away from them.

It’s why something as silly as the NFL halftime show affected them so emotionally. It’s why petty moves like renaming Mount Denali – thumbing our nation’s nose at an Indigenous people – resonates with them. If they cannot win the culture wars through a natural spread of concepts and ideas that wins the minds of people, they are happy to do it with a hammer.

Fire the staff at the Kennedy Center and replace them with people who will use it to promote “non-woke” ideals. Belittle our allies whose progressive policies have allowed them to surpass us in so many quality-of-life metrics. Send ICE to arrest and deport brown-skinned people, and as a bonus let them kill a few progressive protestors along the way. These are the things that make people support Trump.

They want to feel as if their narrow worldview is predominant. They want to feel justified in their bigotry. They want to feel as if they are not “beneath” the “cultural elite.” And Trump tells them they are the ones who are right. He tells them they are the real Americans. That’s why they love him.

Actual governmental policies? They could not care less. They don’t support tariffs because they believe they are effective economic policy. They don’t even know what a tariff really is.

It’s culture. Period. And that’s why Trump can do anything without losing his base. So long as he never embraces acceptance, inclusiveness, or diversity, they will support him. So long as he makes them feel superior to those who are smarter, more educated, and more talented than they, Trump is their man.
