Anyone who does anything outside their home is evaluated by external metrics. That 6-4 team finished the season #24 in the AP poll. They wouldn't have gotten that if the wins were vacated during the season. Is 24th "special"? Maybe for Tulane.

I know you're a protégé of Eyes, but this is NIU. We're talking about competitive programs like Michigan and Ohio State. Drops and bad passes aren't going to give us a chance against elite talent.

I'm not convinced either guy can hold up against the best competition. But at the end of the day it's looking like outside of Ohio State and Washington, the Hawks should have enough firepower and solid enough QB play to win games. They have multiple talented RBs, an OL that seems versatile, and some dynamic playmakers. Drops were a concern, but I actually think that will get cleaned up. A bit more concerning were a few wide open throws (2 for TDs) that were missed. The 2nd half looked really vanilla. Not sure if was intentional or just some wearing down due to the heat.

Guys need to make some big plays/throws. The Heck pass to Diaz on the sideline was a big time throw. Hank made a couple of big time throws. But Iowa will need a few more explosive plays in the passing game, I think, to really elevate. But they also seem to have the potential to maul people. That's encouraging.

After watching Washington I'm pretty sure we can beat them.

Michigan won a National Championship by mauling teams with the Oline/running game and using enough play-action passing to get some chunk plays. That type of offense requires discipline and an avoidance of negative plays/penalties. And a defense that can keep the team in the game. Today looked good, but will have a better idea after ISU.

Not sure what some of you.were expecting, but is is the most excited I've been about the Iowa passing attack in quite awhile.

Was it perfect? No

But we have some serious talent at WR and TE.

And 2 QBs that look the part. They both missed some throws, but I didn't see any fastballs into the dirt or happy feet in the pocket.

I know Hank is billed as a pocket passer and someone even said he was a statue... But he has some wheels. I was impressed with him escaping the pocket and picking up around 10 yards and a 1st down

KF imo prefers pocket passers to dual-threats, and I've discovered that nobody agrees on what a dual-threat is. Gronk (whose gronk) was so much fun to watch last year.
Hank looked athletic, which is why in one of my posts I said he should start next week. My fondness for dual-threats comes from wanting a guy that gives defensive coordinators fits.
I hate it when they load the box and dare KF to throw it, knowing the QB doesn't have the wheels to bail out the offense. I'm getting the feeling Lester is more comfortable with a QB taking off when the pocket collapses.
