Golding will be a failure at HC. Not to the degree of Arnett or Matt Luke, but dude has said multiple times he didn't want to be HC. Arnett said the same. He loves coaching D just like Arnett. Can't blame them for taking the pay raise, but he can get paid for 3 yrs and then get hired as a DC like he wants.

They have a ton of talent and will still put up alot points, but if LK was still there we are talking about an 11 win season instead of 8. They will trend down from there until he is let go.

I don’t see any comparison between Arnett and Golding. Arnett literally had Brad Peterson leading him around by the hand telling him what do, a high school coach. Golding won a couple of playoff games.

Here's the truth about OM & State. If we ever get a good coach, they won't be here long. They will bolt for a big job. So either Golding will be snatched up or he'll flame out.

I concur, Woody McCorvey or Sparky Woods would have done better than their current hire.

Ole Miss is one of those schools that everyone thinks is second rate. Kind of like “your kid is a dumbass, they can’t get into Texas A&M so they settle on this…”

The fact that a coach wants to leave them before their ONLY chance at a natty says it all. Their current coach will be a complete disaster, but honestly they can’t do any better. Their only chance is hire some fallen star with a ton of baggage like a wife beater or someone caught in a giant cheating scandal who has nowhere else to go.

I think they’ll be a playoff contender this year but won’t make it. Similar to 2 years ago. Mississippi probably would have done better hiring Weiss and keeping Golden as DC.

It was a forced hire given where Ole Miss was in the CFP. Those rarely work.

Given the roll Kiffin had them on, they could have done better with a search.

I will go on record: 17 ‘em.

Part of the OM ethos is generating hype. And that matched up well with Lanes ego. He knew his stock was peaking at OM, and if he wanted a legit shot at national relevance it wasn’t going to happen in Oxford.

Yes with Kiffin coaching that team all year and leaving his offensive staff to coach the playoffs.

That said yes Arnett was not ready for what he got dropped into. I imagine that he'd do a lot of things differently when he gets the chance again.
The offensive coordinator hire was better than Lebby's DC hire. If Arnett hired a better OC then he likely would have made year two. We should have not gone with Lebby if we'd have known his choice for DC. We're going to improve but bad hires by new HC have put us where we are. UM isn't going to let Golding do that especially for 2 seasons. That's why I don't think they'll fall near as far plus they have NIL down. That said they will certainly drop a bar. They still may be kicking our butt on football. This year will show us a lot.

A judge says this is hopefully the same Ole Miss as before.

We can only hope... we are in the Louisville corner in this house.

They're due for a 2016 season when half the starting 22 was hurt latter part of season. Let's hope it happens again.

Not a good start. High snap. Dropped swing pass. Punt.

Can't everyone be as smooth as State on the opening drive.
