I used Open Evidence AI to ask the question do knee braces reduce knee injuries. The evidence does not clearly support that prophylatic knee braces reduce knee injuries in offensive lineman specifically. Overall data across multiple studies is inconsistent, and the landmark randomized trial at West Point showed benefit mostly in the defensive linemen, no change in the OL numbers. A few studies have noted an increase in injuries.
Some team physicians continue to brace linemen, but this is based on biomechanical plausibility and institutional preference rather than definitive clinical evidence.
Definitely no strong data to support prophylactic knee bracing.
I asked a follow up question on previous knee injury and the benefits of bracing. Other than the psychological benefit there is not a marked increase in prevention of another knee injury.
I don't know how well they work but we seem to have lot of lineman knee injuries even with the braces.

Is anyone else getting Jerry Jones vibes from Pat Kraft? He's on the field arm in arm with Campbell during the Alma Mater and then he's in the locker room afterwards handing Campbell a game ball. It's giving me the impression that Kraft thinks he's more important than he really is and he wants to play to the camera like Jones does. I can't think of another college AD who makes themselves as prominent as Kraft tries to do.
Absolutely spot on.

The only negative I could even remotely think about was the run game - but it was very obvious that BG was absolutely selling out to stop the run. I can't put my finger on it, but Martin just looks different with the ball in his hands vs the other two RBs. More natural? shiftier? Better footwork? JPJ has the short burst quickness and Hansen looks like a battering ram - so I think all 3 could add something throughout the season. Pass pro was excellent though.

That front seven is what I'm really excited about - some serious size and I like the speed that Rojas and Bacon add. It actually oddly reminded me of the old Tom Bradley defenses up front. Excited to play a team with a passing game to see how our secondary rises to the occasion.

REALLY excited about the passing game though. That WR group looks legit and Rocco can sling it. TEs had to pass pro all day so we couldn't really get them involved. But I like where things could be headed.
I agree about number 25. I think he was the best of the group. Someone brought up that he only averaged 3.8 to carry, but if you remember his last two carries were with third stringers in. Marshall had nine in the box, and those two carries were reminiscent of when Saquon would get the ball 7 yards deep and have three defenders around him. The 6 to 8 carries or whatever he had before that or better than the other two guys in my opinion

Campbell has a knack of finding these underrated talents. This guy even flew under the radar of Rutgers in his own state just miles away. But to your point, Koby Howard was a three star as well!
Howard as a three star had something in common with KJ Hamler. They both got hurt in high school. Without injury, Howard would have rated a lot higher than he did. He was getting a lot of attention when he was a sophomore in high school.

I give the coaching staff some credit for starting substitutions halfway through the 3rd quarter and giving many players some serious in game reps, Franklin would have played the QB late into he 4th quarter to pad Drews numbers. Probably would have ran up the score. Campbell did not allow this to happen.

Who is JPJ? Certainly not James Peoples. Nope. Definitely not Donovan Peoples-Jones, who played at Michigan. Not at all.

It’s James Peoples. Just James Peoples.

Lots of new players, but now that they’re playing, time to get their names right.
Actually, I think it's JP3. His fajah is James Peoples II. Can't have a 2 without the 3, otherwise you'd be a yoonyour.

He needs to back off and stop trying to steal the limelight.

My thoughts were that PSU played diciplined football as a team yesterday. The last few years we were undisciplined and playing as individuals trying to one up the next guy. I definitely liked what I saw from MC and the team.

You nailed it. We saw disciplined football, not BGJ version of dancing follies. It was football we haven't seen in years.

Dis you notice: The freshman Zayas started over the senior Zion Tracy.

That would NEVER NEVER happen under the previous regime. As I said, this coach plays the best players and simply gives zero fux about anyone else
Isn't Tracy's hand in a splint?

WR production was unbelievable. All three looked great and complimented each other well. Didn't realize how high Becht ranked in terms of most returning yards, games, TDs, etc.

Zion had a hand in a splint. Perhaps injury was a factor

I get your point but I think Zion has been a little dinged up which might've contributed to that decision as well.

I remember when we got Howard out of Florida it was a great pickup. I don't temember when he got bumped to a 4 star but he was obviously underrated as a 3 star.

I am excited to see how he does against more talented secondaries.

Tangwell did a great video in which he analyzed the line in both pass protection and in the run game. In pass pro he thought that the line was excellent........ on the run blocking he thought that it was very good with the line getting a lot of push but the RB did not beat the safety in a one on one match up very often. He also felt that the run game had 4 great blocks by the OL and someone would give up an inside move that would throw off the timing of the runs. Watch his video just for his tracking of Rappaleya destroying linemen, and throwing his body around. He showed a couple of runs where the RB could have pushed as if going up the middle and then easily get to the outside with the job that the OL was doing....... he thought that we really missed some runs that were there, and that the OL bullied the Marshall DL

Especially since Campbell is on record as praising Tracy as being one of the best players he's ever coached. So I guess he's found someone BETTER BETTER?

He also said that he thinks Martin will be the starting RB sooner than later. He did a great comparison where the line was bunched up and the RB is suppose to pressure the line and then bounce it outside. Hansen just continued to crash into the line, whereas Martin pressured then bounced it outside.

This game isn’t aging well. It’s been two days, and watching the “highlights” now, I thought they were awful. Meltdown by Wednesday.

😞
I used to think your Eeyore routine was just shtick but I’m starting to realize you’re just a ******.
