ICE Power Rankings

1) Wilmington - Pounded the Tone
2) Coal City - It's all practice until week 9
3) Manteno - Trending upward, aside from the two bumps in the road with Wilmo and CC back to back I think this team has a decent shot at finishing 7-2
4) Peotone - I thought they woulda put up a better fight against Wilmatucky.
5) Lisle - The loss to CC isn't the end of the world. Let's see how they fair this week and against the rest of the middle tier ICE
6) Reed-Custer - Win against Streator was expected, didn't expect it to be that one sided though. Does that mean RC is actually decent or Streator that bad? Time will tell.
7) Streator - Would have liked to see a closer game this last week.
8) Herscher - Is Herscher a basketball or wrestling school? May as well start planning for the winter sports season.

Reed-Custer (2-1) @ Manteno (3-0) - Although RC came up with a one sided one, that is what should have happened. Their loss to St. T. is looking better and better each week. I still just like where Manteno is at a little more than RC. If RC wants to climb the middle tier ranks, they need to ball out this week. Manteno handled Herscher, and that was expected, but I am still unsure of the gap between RC and Herscher. I think that Manteno has more momentum and their staff has been together a long time. I don't see them dropping this one, but it won't be a blow out. Manteno 35 RC 24

Streator (1-2) @ Coal City (2-1) - Coal City by as many as they want. CC 56 Streator 6

Herscher (0-3) @ Wilmington (3-0) - Wilmo by as many as Reents decides. Wilmo 49 Herscher 0

Lisle (2-1) @ Peotone (2-1) - GOTW! Both teams have a lot to prove this week. Peotone and Lisle both went up against the best two in the ICE last week and both will play the two worst in the ICE next week. I'm still holding the weight of the Marengo win higher than anything Lisle has beat and for that reason I would say that Peotone has the edge in this one. Peotone 24 Lisle 13

Power rankings are spot on, this is a proving week for a few teams.

Manteno over Reed-Custer - this game will tell us a lot about the middle. Manteno over Johnsburg pulls more weight than RC loss vs. STT and win over Streator. Panthers by a few scores.

Wilmington wins when the Tigers get on the bus for the road trip. Wilmington by 41+.

See above comment. Coalers roal.

GOTW Lisle has done some good things and surprised being able to hang with CC for a quarter and a half. Peotone has a solid win over Marengo but lasted 1 drive vs. Wilmington. Lisle lacks the depth but something tells me something is happening up in Lion country. Lisle -1.5.

Hard to believe we are heading into week 4 already! Even harder to believe it's only Labor Day weekend and we already have teams qualified for the playoffs. I'm not a fan (n)

Reed-Custer (2-1) @ Manteno (3-0) - The battle for Tier 2 continues. The Panthers are in the playoffs and look solid in the ICE 3 spot. Manteno 34 RC 14

Streator (1-2) @ Coal City (2-1) - CLOCK

Herscher (0-3) @ Wilmington (3-0) - CLOCK

Lisle (2-1) @ Peotone (2-1) - GOTW and the other battle in Tier 2. This could be a good one. CC brought Lisle back down to earth and Peotone didn't put up much of a fight against the Cats. I guess it comes down to who bounces back better? I'll take the Blue Devils at home. Peotone 27 Lisle 20

Week 9 will decide #1 and #2. Other than that I think 5 through 7 will change weekly

I believe that Braidwood won the conference a few years back.
I8/ICE was also split large/small divisions for a long time. Here is every team that has won the title since 1996. The conference was split large/small from 06 through the 2018 season.

Braidwood: 4 total. 2 during the split years. Most recent 2022. ..........Original team since 96
CC: 4 total. 2 during split. Most recent 2019 .............original team since 96
Dwight: 0 ..........not sure when they left they were there for some of the split years but original since 96
Herscher: 3. All during the split 07,16,17 ........assuming they joined when the split started
Lisle: 1. during the split in 2018 original........original team since 96
Manteno: 3 all during the split. 11,14,15. ..........Joined in 02
Peotone: 1 during split in 09. ..........Joined in 02
Plano 3 total. 2 during split. Left sometime during split.
Sandwich: 3 all during split, 10,11,12. Left sometime during the split.
Seneca: 3 all prior to the split. 99,00,01. Left sometime during the split.
Streator: 0 not sure exactly when they joined
Westmont: 0 not an original team, and unknown when they left
Wilmington: 20 total. 11 during split. IHSA also has them winning the spring covid season. Original team since 96

I don't think I forgot any team. I was too lazy to read all the non winners, but I think I got everyone who has been a part of the conference since 96. Also didn't dig too deep on what years teams left or joined.

I am shocked CC only has 4. I guess I really forgot that Sandwich or Herscher ever won even during the split years.

I would have guessed the only time anyone won the conference beside Wilmo and CC would have been Seneca in that good run they had around 2000, Manteno in the early 2010's when they were pretty tough, and Plano during the Nasti years when they won stated. Obviously RC in 22 as well.

Hard to believe CC and Wilmatucky's 2nd favorite team RC are tied with 4 each :oops:
Honestly I agree. I think the problem was although CC is a great team and are usually second fiddle to Wilmo, the years they were split into large and small divisions there was always some really really good team out of nowhere (like the sandwich or Herscher) that took the large division from CC.

Just a routine Friday night in the ICE with the exception of Peotone massacring Lisle 52-6. Ouch! Good thing they have Herscher and Streator remaining
