If I were Zinn, I’d tell Schiano he can have his buyout and be fired today, or we can guarantee him this season and next season but then the buyout goes away if either side wants to part ways.

Give him the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is. Like Nebraska did with Hoiberg. Worked out well for Hoiberg who turned Nebraska around with that extra year and got a fat extension.

If Schiano really believes the stuff he says, he should take the guarantee for next year in a second. If he knows he’s full of crap and can’t coach, then he won’t.

You can’t just make the buy out go away…that’s not how that works. It is a legally binding contract RU entered into. Either RU pays up or it is stuck with choppy dude for a while.

You certainly can amend the contract if both sides agree for the buyout to go away if you guarantee Schiano he coaches out this season and next.

why would he do it? Because he actually believes he can fix the program. The same reason Hoiberg agreeed to something similar at Nebraska

How is this an offer GS can’t refuse, when he almost certainly would refuse it?

Why the eff would he? He has RU by the short hairs. He’d be a r3tard to. If he has any brains and thinks RU is about to get rid of him, you wait until RU is ready to make a move. He is in control and there’s no reason, if you’re him, to give that up. He owes RU no loyalty at that point…NONE

Don't think he would but with Greg's ego, him being told he's getting canned this early in the year, he may think about his legacy. Stranger things have happened

You’re approaching it from the standpoint he’s a sh!tty coach that will be a failure next year as well. If he thinks he can really turn this around next year, he would get an extension and can get back to the narrative of ending his tenure on his terms.

if he had any brains he wouldn’t have wasted $ on Lonergan and would start Surace, so….you never know.

next year's schedule is perfect to bring a new guy in with only one heavy hitter.

the sooner you can Greg, the sooner we can get someone from a larger pool
