If he was a little taller, he'd be playing for Vandy right now.
Hey no wasted timeouts due to not getting the play in quick enough, or not having the right player package on the field. Refreshing.
Might be a unpopular opinion. But while the offense has looked good. It's still way to conservative... Not a single pass in the air went more than 10yards....we had longer passing plays... But we didn't stretch the field that might work against Youngstown. But it won't against quality SEC teams. Is he sandbagging some... Maybe... But I expected alittle more aggressive offense in passing.
He looks pretty solid.
We would have had someone like Calzada running the show. Ughh
Heard somewhere that Sykes and Nichols are dinged up and being held out as a precautionary measure. Bateman seems pretty confident in the backups and said it would be good to get them some reps.
Some thoughts.
-We look much more disciplined than in the past seasons.
-Our offense doesn't look like we are pulling teeth attempting to simply pass the ball.
-We do have tight ends! Who knew?!
-Our QB seems to be able to make reads, and the right decision quickly.
-Defense looks a little suspect considering the competition.
-It's always hard to judge the competition level with these early seasons games, but Youngstown State's QB is a stud.
- Not sure how our season will go considering our daunting schedule, but we look like a better coached team already. Which is a good sign.
-We look much more disciplined than in the past seasons.

Good teams don't open the playbook against a team like this. We are cruising running simple designs. No doubt Stein digs deeper and shows a more dynamic offense next week.
The mystery of Stein's O as a first year coach is an advantage going into week 2. Don't give Bama a lot to go off.
I’m sure there are others that feel the same way. I don’t but not an unfair opinion. What I saw was a very precise and efficient short passing game that will be needed against the “big boys”.
Don't forget a delay of game penalty AFTER calling a timeout!
That’s my main takeaway. We look so much more disciplined and well coached in most areas of the game so far.
We all know the Youngstown qb is legit. But don't look now, bamas new QB is having a field day against East Carolina

Rushing 64 yards and a rushing TD.
Sure we're playing a legit QB, but this new bama QB has hogs on the line.
I don't know if we are simply this mediocre to sub par on D or the scheme for this game.
One thing I do know. If our D plays like this next week, it won't be pretty.

Allowing 7/10 third downs in the first half isn't great
Charlie Strong sucks a color commentator. But that's also why he's on the plus side of broadcasting.
Watching him at half time he might not be real human. Kind of talks and interacts like one of those robots.
Would appear Stein ripped the D at half! Great stop!
He’s okay, he’s not a big trash talker and doesn’t seem one sided
My brain cannot lock onto anything he is saying. His voice is weak and gets washed out for me.
That’s what this D is gonna look like when Bateman brings some DBs, totally different.

Up until that return, I've been impressed with the lack of penalties.
This heat is dangerous. Lots left or inside in the concession area. Several medical situations. No idea how its only mid 80s because it feels insanely hot.
I guess I'm new to that rule?? Can you not hit hard anymore? Back in the day the only thing you couldn't do was block in the back.
So you can't block a player chasing the ball carrier?
That was a chickenshit call. Let’s go to flag football if we’re going to start calling that stuff.
