I have no idea what she’s even talking about. State & UMiss aren’t even involved in this.

College athletics is for college players. Period.

The University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University run two of the very best football programs in the country. I support their right to do what is necessary to protect the integrity of their programs and the integrity of the sport. I support their right to promote the best interests of their student-athletes. As Mississippi’s Chief Legal Officer, I stand with Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

What she’s saying is , I’m running for Governor and I want your vote no matter which school you support but I reserve the right to change my mind at a later time and will then deny what I didn’t say previously.

Im gonna guess that Greg Sankey asked Keenum and Boyles to nudge her in the direction of a press release.
Possibly, but it's also basically campaign season. She may just think this statement is good politics. We probably have (or had; not sure if Sylva and Manning are still considering MSU as an option this seas) more to gain from allowing class of 2022 athletes to play this season than LSU, just because Sylva is at such a position of need for us.

"I have no idea what this is really about but I'm told it is in my political interest to say something positive about our universities in this matter as it has the attention of the voting public."

The overall argument is that each institution is allowed to join a club, of which you agree to their rules, policies and by-laws. And if you dont, that club has the ability to punish or remove you.

The reason she and the other states' AGs have weighed in is for exhibits in the federal case showing the member institutions have the legal backing from their state's top legal officer.

Yes, we are very much involved in this, and yes, this is part political/PR and legal campaign
