Is it possible UMASS is just good?

There is zero reason last game's night should happen. It would be more likely prior to NIL but not after.

No matter how you look at it- UMass maybe spends $1.5-2 mil max on NIL and we are close to $15-20m on NIL alone.

Every single player on the field for UMass outplayed their Rutgers opponent. Both lines of ours looked lost and we have a pre season AA on our line. Our DB's couldn't stay within 5 yards of their WR's. We couldn't tackle.

Our first drive- we put it on Raymond and Duff's shoulders and we cut through them like butter. On the next few drives- they were invisible. So- our $20m in coaching was also outcoached.

I don't want to hear anyone talk about donating NIL anymore- When we get slammed at home by a team that has 1/10 of our NIL. This is 100% on coaching.

He's right though and NY Post rarely publishes anything about RU ball one way or another. I hate to say it but GS just cant get anything lasting going with his tarded offenses. He could get a dozen 4 stars and still not have a B1G offense that challenges anyone. RU will always be a JV with GS and this is the first year I ever thought he should go. Raymond with 40 yds rushing and offense with SEVEN TFLs is just way too lame against a team the B1G varsity teams would have put away by the half
No, he is not right. Rutgers should not be kicked out of the B1G and disband the program. Indiana says hello. Some here are taking great joy in this a little too much. The answer is simple. Fire Greg and hire a competent head coach.

The line play on both sides of the ball were particularly disappointing.

But I'm sure a new fieldhouse would have made a big difference ;)

People have short memories. Rutgers lost to MAC team Buffalo in 2018 by score 42-13. It was 35-6 Buffalo at halftime. Buffalo outgained RU 220-40 yards in the first half. Much worse than this game. The difference is that one was hidden on a week 2 saturday and this one was in front of literally the national CFB audience.
This is correct!

Suppose this is all true and UMass is a top MAC team......

Should a presumably mid tier B1G school get blown out by a good MAC team?
17pts and it wasn't even that close.

Substitute PSU for Rutgers and their fans saying "UMass may actually be good".

How hard would you be laughing?
Losing is 1 thing, getting completely man handled that way is another. And no, we should never lose to them either. We R a joke again. And deserve it.

That's the thing. How can the talent gap between the programs be that huge as it seemed tonight? There is no way UMass should have equivalent or better NIL resources. And yet, their player evaluation appeared to be light years ahead of a B1G program on both lines and most noticeably at QB.
Their player evaluation and player development appears to be light years ahead of RU.

Why, because he isn't a fan of DSA?
What is DSA, and I answered above. There is no need to disband the program and leave the B1G. It's simple. Rutgers needs a new football coach. It worked for Illinois. It worked even better for Indiana. It's possible. Put Indiana aside because Cignetti is a unicorn. Look at Illinois pre-Bret Bielema. Look at them now. 19 wins in the last 2 seasons. And he is one year behind Greg as HC of Illinois. It is possible to win with a competent head coach.

Correct. As the writer Gore Vidal phrased it , we are “The United States of Amnesia”.

If UMass turns out to be a good MAC team in Harysmiak's second year, that is an indictment of Schiano 2.0.

See my follow up posts, and learn how to read. His crap about getting kicked out the B1G and disbanding the program-a guy like you laps this nonsense up. And he is an annoying tool-worse than Politi. Everything I say is true and correct. Because I'm humble.

People complain about the new CFB landscape but I like it.

More teams popping up doing things they've never done before or haven't in a long time and quicker turnarounds are possible and parity is good as its ever been (it'll never perfect though).

Expanded playoff to 24 can help opportunity even more.

That was a 10 win Buffalo team in year 4 under Leipold. UMASS hadn't won a game in nearly 2 years with an entirely turned over roster. They have been unquestionably the worst FBS team of the past 15 years. Their roster budget is around 10% of ours. This loss is way, way worse

DP makes me even more want Rutgers to find a way to blow out BC...But, it does not seem realistic at this point. But Portnoy is really just a very narcissistic *** with a poor taste in pizza. lol

Maybe it's like when ND lost to Northern Illinois and then went to the playoff.

Possible? Sure

Probable...I have doubts

It is entirely possible that UMass will make the quantum leap to a mid-level MAC team, maybe even better. The 29 point spread was wildly unrealistic. That said, it should have been a fairly comfortable double digit win.
Absolutely NOT!!!!!

UMASS IS HOT GARBAGE & RUTHERS IS AS WELL.

Disagree. Their players aren’t better but were well prepared with schemes to exploit everything RU did.

Schiano doesn’t have a playbook or ability to adjust. No passes to RB, TE, no QB runs. HS offenses are more complex.

Yes and ample other proof. This loss doesn’t change Schiano’s assessment all that much. Even had they won it was never going to be a bowl-bound team anyway.

Yes. UMass was very good. Obviously we got their A game, but will be very interesting to see how they finish up. They are grossly underrated this year

You guys are acting like they played last years team. It was 53 new guys
That is how the media works. They are the worst team in college football last year so they must be this year too. Nevermind it's a completely different team. No way in hell Rutgers should have been that much of a favorite, considering they lost their star QB and have no good additions.
