Zinn has no credibility until Schiano and Pike are gone.
Because ALL that matters is football and MBB…everything else, sorry if you’re a fan of other sports, is just noise.
Why would Anyone spend money or time on this program going forward this year

Seriously. All her focus on NIL has just been superseded by coaching buyouts and hiring bonuses.
Her job now is to find the buyout money. Nothing but this for the next 2 months.
I suppose we can hope that tonight’s debacle sways the Browns/Towers/Garuttis of the world to kick in towards a buyout, but this is Rutgers, so I’m thinking no.

We suck at pretty much every other sport too. Some programs have occasionally gotten temporarily above average. But none of sustained above average or good.
But people here keeping talking ALIGNMENT...i dont get it...how could yiu be aligned when your top 2 programs are under water with both not having full confidence of fanbsse
It’s her job to make the necessary changes. Either figure out a way to do it or be relegated to the wasteland of other useless ADs here
She’s a special type of person who likes big challenges. If she can’t get the is done, I don’t see anyone getting it done.
Considering a number of them shoved Schiano down everyone’s throats, they should feel some obligation. Along with those on this very board who threatened to boycott the program if he wasn’t hired. You know and we know who you are. Time to pony up.
He’s old and didn’t want the grind. Especially working for someone as demanding as Schiano. Until a few weeks ago her was working as a HS coach and training kids on the side. Now he’s got an NFL NYC gig.
Schiano grinds. On all the wrong things.
Who in their right mind is lighting $17M-$24M on fire to pay his buyout? Not happening. The school will either eat this or continue with him.
Why not say Flaherty retired instead of "contract not renewed"? After three years of progress Flaherty was making 500k. The new guy (Turner) is beginning at 500K. RU should have made coach a better offer. Flood making 1.5+ million on his team. Flats should have got minimum 850 because he made the OL team much better his three years. RU has half the staff Indiana has. GS could find the money on his bloated "Friends and Family" staff. Kirk gets paid like a top OC and he runs a weird offense easy to predict. Greg calls Kirk one of the best OCs in college football. Think he shows up at Ohio St or Michigan? Schiano might have known Flats better coach than him GS record is pretty lame compared to Flats and his 2 Super Bowls

Our two major sports are MEN's football and MEN's basketball. Our AD should not be a woman. I don't think that's sexist. I think it's common sense. Come to think of it - how about an AD for men's sports and an AD for women's sports?

I don't follow Zinn close. I do believe a college with a big time football programs needs a strong football AD. A football team imvolves 100s of people and other sports dont deal with that. A 16 year old basketball player can already be developed enough to have high skills and play all year. Lineman, LBs, DBs, QBs etc need a lot of physical culturing and play experience that they can only get as few times a year. Then you need a smart playbook and none of this "if you execute you win" stuff from the 80s/90s.
Ron Erhardt of the Parcell's Giants used to have a playbook of what were called his "Dirty Dozen" plays that were used over and over. That doesn't work 40 years later with all the video, spring ball, specialty players/coaches and such. Yet RU wants to try the same screen passes on goal when intensely coached B1G teams know what's coming when the huddle breaks. Greg keeps trying to play Butch Davis/Miami ball and that's over,. Indiana asks its players to make risky plays and they do. Coach gives them confident. Greg sees his players are looming turnover problems that have to be guarded against and that's a confidence robber

Well, I agree that it’s much more difficult for a woman to succeed in that role. It would take an exceptional woman to do so. ZInn is not close to that.
But we were told that this wasn’t a loss. Flats has multiple Super Bowl rings. But somehow forgot how to coach once he got to Rutgers.

Yeah I agree. My point was that I don't see donors paying much of it, like the posters suggested, so the school will have to.
It's stunning to think the donors who she got on her knees for to pay mediocre players will be turned off to now pay for the coaches buyout

As I've been continually saying with Pikiel - forget what it will cost us to get rid of them. How much is it costing us to keep them?
Zinn just asked donors to donate big money to a program that she said needed it to succeed. They didn't make a lot of money by being stupid, and won't be quick to donate next year, and are the same people going to now donate money to get rid of Schiano after having just wasted millions? Zinn just lost a lot of credibility with them.
Not a chance in hell of him being retained with that record, and not a chance in hell of him having that record.
It wasn’t about money. Flaherty could coach at any school in the country. Just needs to pick up the phone. He’s 70 years old and to be honest, looks older than that.
