Anyone dreaming of Donovan really needs to let go. No way is that guy stepping into the portal era.
Is Donovan really that much more far fetched than Oats leaving Bama? I don't really have a preference either way, I would be excited with both. I think both are more of a dream than anything, unfortunately.

Yes.

Oats is currently a top hoops HC at a football school and a young 52.

Donovan has been coaching in the NBA for 15 years and in his 60's.

I will be surprised if Pope’s successor, either soon or not, is Billy D, Oats or Hurley
I would not be on board with any of those.
The Donovan ship has sailed- he’s a risk after so much time away from the college game
Oats is the best of these three, but he’s got NBA written all over him
Hurley is the biggest asshat in sports-no way.

The biggest indicator for if you have a good coach or not is if other fan bases actively root for you to keep that coach, or root for that coach to leave/go to the NBA. Every single fan of another team wants us to keep Pope - every single one - while we are rooting for Hurley, Golden, Oats, etc., to leave or get NBA jobs.

I don't really want Oats.

Give me the D.

Billy D. (assuming Pope is gone sooner rather than later)
He went to San Antonio as the coach in waiting. Johnson is on the jot seat and could get fired with a slow start. Popovich had to have a few interventions wirh the team last season because they had problems with Johnson.

I agree completely. My comment was meant to be a satirical response to those that mention those three as if we would reflexively offer those that have turned us down or that we really want a jerk, or one that is too old and years away from this crazy era.

Josh Schertz is my one and only choice if we need to make a hire after this season.

Is that his new wife or do you stay with his old wife or get back with his old wife that seem to be what was holding in the Tuscaloosa she didn’t wanna leave they were divorced or whatever. I definitely think nate Oates has to be Top 3 priorities.

I had a college kid work for me this summer who attends Alabama. I asked him about Oats and he said the fanbase loves him and know they were a joke before he took over.

I doubt he goes anywhere else.

And he did a horrifying job coaching in the finals. Inept. How you let the NYK come back like that over and over.

The "I don't want Hurley" angle is hysterical - it's like the guy that gets rejected by the hot girl and they says he didn't want her anyway. If UK signed him, the state of Kentucky would explode in joy. We know he's not going anywhere.
