Anyone have any suggestions?
We’ve had a couple and the kids seem to like their little JBL speakers but I’m looking for something myself.
One that gets good reviews is the Harman Kardon Go Play 3 (~$400)

Anyone have any other recommendations?

I spend some time last year on reddit looking for recommendations. Wonderboom is relatively inexpensive for the quality. I have one and its pretty good for around the house/company/camping.

We have a couple of Hyper Booms. One in our workout room and then one in our sunroom that we take outside by the pool. They put out full sound with deep base that sounds good even outside. Would recommend, but they are bulky and pretty big if that is a consideration. If you check the reviews on the bestbuy link below, they are highly reviewed.

Love my turtlebox. They are the best if you are using them outdoors. Great at the beach or on the boat. Pairs easily with others, which is nice because that’s what most of our friends have as well.

So fancy. It's like the Maserati of bluetooth speakers.

If you are spending over $100 for a portable/tabletop speaker, you are buying marketing and nothing more.
That is not true. The Hyperboom is a 240 watt speaker. The Sony ULT Field 1 referenced above is only 30 watts. That is why the price is multiples of the Sony. The turtlebox is 100 watts. Not the same at all.

It's like buying a Maserati instead of a Honda Passport. What a waste of money.

Loud isn't the same as good. The Hyperboom will deliver quality music very loudly. The Sony ULT will deliver quality music loud enough for most anyone at a fraction of the cost. If you like to crank it up, choose the Hyperboom. If you like quality sound but don't need your neighbor to hear it, save some money.

I am not saying the Sony ULT isn't good or appropriate for your needs. I was only making the point that paying more than $100 for a portable speaker isn't just paying for marketing. They are apples and oranges.

If you want something small that you can clip onto your shirt while working outside or exercising check out the noxgear 39g. I use one while biking for podcasts. It’s excellent.

This. I own a few soundcore speakers. The boom is an absolutely beast. You could honestly use it as a subwoofer for your surround sound.
