Pretty sure that may be where this all is headed.Let’s just move to an independent status and the SEC can piss up a rope.
Thats the problem I think everyone is missing. Its not the NCAA or the SEC fault. They are the only ones TRYING to provide some kind of order and guidelines. The problem is every individual school is already acting independant and will do anything they can do get an edge on the next guy. That is THE DEFINITION of chaos and is the reason its all going to crumble down to nothing in the end. Its what happens in any organization, society etc when self interest take over from the common good. You're watching it play out in real time. I'm afraid what you are rooting for is the destruction if the very thing you're trying to hang on to and enjoy, But it aint gonna end well.Let’s just move to an independent status and the SEC can piss up a rope.
I agree but I looked at NBA actions against Clippers for violating rules and the Clippers excuse was everyone is doing it. Yep and that mentality is what the NCAA has been fighting for years. When people say, "get the damn NCAA and SEC out of way so we can do what we want" it kills me because all they are playing right into the very thing that will dig the grave for the sport(s) we used to know. The only answer to saving COLLEGE sports is to reign in things and create more structure but that is now impossible to do with the courts etc so in that sense I see whay folks have given up on it all and just want everybody to get out of the way and lets just have professional sports using the college facilities but again that wont last cause too many like me dont want that and will abandon it all together.I agree but I looked at NBA actions against Clippers for violating rules and the Clippers excuse was everyone is doing it. I heard Matt Jones go on and on about why do people care if it becomes a version of professional sports and why it do they have to be or act like COLLEGE athletes at all???? The inference being why does there have to be a connection to the university at all????
My reply would be this . . . if that's the case Matt tell me this . . . why do still follow it then with the passion that you do??? What are you tying your passion to??? For most of us through the years, our passion came from the very connection to our State and our University. If not, to me, you look pretty silly taking some empty vicarious pride or association to a team that has not association back to you.
You would have a lot better point if these organizations had a history of being fair and consistent but they absolutely do not. After UNCheat walked away unscathed (thanks in large part to Stankey) I see little reason for anyone to play by their rules. They have brought this on themselves for the most part.Thats the problem I think everyone is missing. Its not the NCAA or the SEC fault. So let’s just let flood college sports with NFL/NBA players! You would have a lot better point if these organizations had a history of being fair and consistent but they absolutely do not. He don't care. He's not there for the long haul. He'll be gone in a few years if not less.Lane Kiffin gonna get LSU kicked out of the conference.
And LSU will come crawling back. LSU does not have the nation wide fanbase of Notre Dame (who does only because Catholics root for them even if we are not Alumni.)He don't care. He's not there for the long haul. He'll be gone in a few years if not less.
Everyone should be independent so when it comes time for play offs the right teams are playing each other and not certain teams playing certain teams because of conferences. And LSU will come crawling back. I don’t want LSU out. I think it hurts both parties. The SEC would be losing one of its premier programs. We could bring Miami and Florida Stare and Clemson and I don’t think it would entirely fill the hole. We’d be losing decades of rivalries.
