This is the same tactic that the Big 12 used in getting Texas Tech to back off its stance on Tech’s gambling QB. Lane might win his ‘Good Ole Boy’ injunction in Baton Rogue, but federal court in altogether a different matter.

I bet Kiffin got goose bumps all over himself when he heard the news. He eats this crap up.

While likely true, I think of Kiffin like I think of Joe Pesci in Goodfellas

He’ll keep enjoying himself until the day comes when someone’s had enough of shi…

I'm telling you boys, my future prediction skills looking good:
Clemson beats LSU, and becomes the week 1 story du jour. We have to hear Dabo preach incessantly about how his program was built the right way and the talking heads will say you should build it on HS and not portal.

He will then promptly go 5-7 and will be pushed out.

I can see this team being very distracted. And Dabo is out for blood.

Eh...im not so sure, even though I predicted this would cause LSU to lose a game.

They have had over 8 months to prepare mentally for Clemson. The two players at issue right now would only be backups if they played. LSU is probably more than ready to start playing.

But it would be funny to see them lose
Well one issue helps bama’s competition, so Birmingham had to act
Imagine if everyone got this upset about a professional basketball player returning to college.

Question. Where was the SEC’s Federal court suit in the Chambliss case? I can make a good argument the lsu guys should be eligible. There’s no valid argument Chambliss should be eligible.

Because they didn’t care about that ruling And didn’t craft any rules around it to make punish schools for taking kids granted TROs over breach of contract issues. They have never had an issue with someone getting a med redshirt however they see fit. But they will go to the mat on the pro issue. That’s all they really care about.

If I’m lsu, making up new rules after the fact & selective enforcement are a couple of issues I’m bringing up in court.

FWIW, my view is the SEC is going to the mat on this because the next lawsuit will be to let ANY former pro player eligible. With NIL, it's restraint of free trade, right? Anyone can be a college student despite their age and former employment, right? Without antitrust legislation from congress, there is no end to it.

Yes, I agree the NCAA and the SEC are stupid and shortsighted. Always have been.

I agree with you. I mean LeBron James has five years of college eligibility after he retires from the NBA. What’s to prevent him from trying to use it? He could just take an online class for five years.

Remember back in school when the lax teacher let you have an open book test, but there was still that 1 dumb guy that got busted for having cheat notes written on his forearm?

Well that 1 dumb guy grew up to be "Lame" Kiffen -- dude is getting into recruiting trouble during a time period in NCAA Football when it is actually LEGAL to pay players $ Poney Express style.

Until some judge rules the 5 year clock is an anti trust violation.
Well if that’s gonna happen then it will happen no matter how hard this case gets argued. And really it goes to the overall problem that the current governance model isn’t sustainable. Let’s get Sankey going to the mat for employment.

He has no eligibility. His five year clock has run.
But what if LeBron James is still trying to provide for his family and feed his kids? What if LeBron James needs a career?

What if the only way Lebron James can get that new career is with a college education? And what if the only way LeBron James can afford that college education with with a basketball scholarship?

But you won’t let him have that scholarship.

Why do you want LeBron James’ kids to starve?
