Tackling in open space or 5-10 yard past the line of scrimmage becomes much harder. Also giving ball carriers that much ability to generate momentum changes the dynamic of which group is punishing which. Hopefully Arnett being aggressive will put our guys in position to be more successful tacklers.State's tackling sucked last year and so did most everything else on defense. I think an improved defense will make the biggest difference in wins and losses.
Their receiver Burnside had a good game Saturday**I'm keeping my eye on a few Ole Memp players. For next year.
Other than KT and Fluff…. I don’t know any of the players.![]()

I agree with you, overall defense will tell the tale this year, but I feel really good about LB and DB. So my focus will be on the defensive line. We've GOT to stop the run. GOT to put at least a little pressure on the QB. That's how we lost at least 2 of the games last year, and nearly blew our biggest win against ASU.Just the defense in general. We haven’t had one to speak of the last two years. Just want to see if we are now talented enough to be one of those competent Arnett defenses you saw in 2021 and 2022, or can we be close to it at least?
On offense I want to see the RB’s not named Fluff. Feels like it’s now or never for Gayten, but I’m not sure he’s even our #2 back as the staff seems to be very high on Wilson. And it’s not crazy to suggest that the two most talented backs on the roster are the two true freshmen, Hill and Crosby.
