Most of his late additions were because the roster didn’t have many players on it or we were super short on guards or something like Murray coming late. I’m sure some recruit ended up being so bad like Skal or Bradshaw that they didn’t get the role they thought they would. Who knows what he tells them behind closed doors though. It’s more a comment on his hypocrisy in public commenting on other schools adding players and why he thinks it’s wrong. Like his way is the only way that is right. It’s pro sports now, no more crying about walk on spots or getting cut IMHO.
But he actually said he supports it. He just thinks everyone should be able to transfer and put it on an even playing field.
I have yet to see anyone demonstrate why that is problematic. It's literally the fairest way.
If there is no crying and it's pro, shouldn't that apply to players expecting a 5th year now? You can't just say the class of 2022 should get it however they want but no one else.
Every class before them isn't getting it either. It has to start with a group/class. It could easily only start applying to newly entering classes and not be retroactive.
However, like Cal stated, if we are adamantly going to start it now, why not make it as fair as possible for everyone? What harm is there in that?
Mizzou had 15 players pre Mitchell return. He makes 16. So do the math.
It's not about answering a question. It's about he pushed the envelope with eligibility all the time. Now he cares? if Mitchell was going to Arkansas Cal would have been on every media platform leading the charge to get him eligible. Cause it's about the kids! Who's kids? Oh wait his kids. Nobody else's kids.
So who was cut? Are they eligible to be grandfathered into a walk-on role?
Were they a practice player? Were they just an extra addition for the time being? What are the circumstances of said player you can't even identify?

Missouri is getting to use an NCAA exemption to make one of the 15 man roster a "Designated Student-Athlete" which will not count against the 15 man roster cap. Missouri has yet to announce which player will be getting that designation to make room for Mark Mitchell (though an article in PowerMizzou.com makes reference to a player already being given that designation without naming him). Although there are no longer walk-ons by technicality, just roster spots, this exemption provided by the house settlement allows for a player to be moved to a Designated Student-Athlete position, similar to what walk-ons used to be and not count against the 15 player roster cap.
Not saying this is what happened, but:
Imagine being a scholarship player and being told you have to give up your scholarship and move to the practice squad so a guy who graduated, tried to go pro, failed, tried to commit to another university, failed, and had to return back to his old school could have his spot back. Yeesh. And somehow that is preferable to the SEC over letting the kid transfer within conference.

Bradshaw was hurt and had surgery IIRC. We also tried to get Oscar to return and try to get a waiver for the season he only played 10 games. Jeez dude. You really should learn what you're talking about.

Cal assumes in his statement that players who play for other coaches are mislead and players that play for him know his game. It’s a passive aggressive swipe attempting to speak to high schoolers being recruited by Mark and Cal.
Yeah but many of them got medical redshirts and many extra years with Covid. Going forward though with this new rule, there is really no reason to not start with them.

Some did, but the vast majority didn't. Why are we excluding them to start with 2022? Why shouldn't someone from earlier years be allowed if we are going down that road?
What makes 2022 the smart place to start? Why not start with the incoming class instead and have it start fresh for every incoming player? Why is that better or worse than 2022 class?

Well, I have gathered from your interactions with me and others that you may be a cat, but are no attorney.
When you respond to a poster who offers an opinion about Cal you do not like with a dumb ad hominem as stated above, you are defending Cal, whether you can comprehend that fact or not.
When you assume Cal has never misled or lied to the players who transferred out, you assumption is a defense.
When you repeatedly respond to people who are critical to Cal with counters, you … defend.

Cal is such a unique situation. There will be a doc written about it. How often do you see a HOF coach pushed OOT by a large, bratty fanbase, to then go to a conference opponent, pick up exactly where he left off?
The way I look at Cal these days is this - he's a S16 coach +/-, and will continue to send a ton of kids to the NBA. Maybe he hits one year and makes a run, maybe he gets upset. For UK and the spoiled fanbase, it's not enough. For Arkansas, they're in heaven.

I appreciate what Cal did for us as a Coach! After the 2015 platoon team. Coach Cal reduced his roster size on his teams. Anytime you recruit a star player after you have 10 players, you will reduce the playing time of existing players. I think that is why Cal UK begin to lose more games You fill your roster if you can with the best players you can get
Cal is just a hypocrite, go back to 2019 and he said the opposite, the times have changed and Cal would rather con young freshman, he does not fair well with older smarter players who can't be conned
It just makes no sense to implement the rule now and exclude the class that just went out to me. All these legal issues would go away if they would have just grandfathered them in.
I am not disagreeing that it is fine to start now, but you see that it opens it up for arguments or why now? Why not prior years or later years. There really is not a right or wrong answer. It's simply preference.
But, based on the interview, Cal specifically says he has zero problem with it happening now so long as all players get the same options. And I have yet to aee anyone say how that is wrong or unfair. It actually seems incredibly fair.

I understand the reasons for leaving and it was time for a speration. I clearly stated I was all for him getting his flowers after he leaves Arkansas. Not sure how I'm not processing his departure. He's clearly a hypocrite because he always played in the gray area of eligibility from his time at UMass to Kentucky. My issue is he always been about "players first" but now all of a sudden he's not. He wants his players first. He only cares about rules now because it doesn't benefit him. He didn't give two sh*ts if a player was gonna be cut he just wanted to make sure his team got the benefit. You could see that if coach cal wasn't in your mouth.
