I would actually like to see the day where Iowa develops packages to take advantage of quarterback "B" s skill set vs quarterback "A".
And SoS is something worth talking about AFTER the season. See 2021 for proof.

The Sully package was born much more out of trying to find red zone answers, than it was born out of trying to get run for QB2.

There just isn't time to worry about QB2, especially with Iowa's system.

Additionally, the staff wants the QB's in the room to all have similar skills. That way development for the rest of the team can stay true to form, rather than having to take the shape of whoever the QB is. Was a big reason why the staff didn't seek quick fix "adjustments" during the rebuild of the o-line. And the entire program can feel the benefits of that approach, today

The B10 network comes to film the Iowa camp for the world to watch on TV and Hecklinski looks bad with 2 TOs and bad play as witnessed by the B10 analysts. Hecklinski should know that this is a bigger audition than Kids Day was.

I was really waiting for Hecklinski to be fire at the B10 network filming and put this QB controversy to rest but he didn't.

Agreed. Whoever is back there will be fine. Good oline, good backs, good TEs is a nice start for an inexperienced QB to step into. Just dont lose the game.

For those closer to this, wouldn’t Heck theoretically provide Iowa with more of a running threat? It seems from limited observations that he is versatile enough to scramble, make plays with his feet, and excel in designed QB runs as well. Would Lester utilize this as an extra weapon or are Heck’s dual threat capabilities overblown?

I doubt you'll see designed QB runs. Hecks not a very big guy. Lester kind of eluded to that already.If he runs, it will be in scramble situations and he'll be told to get down.

I highly doubt that either guy got much real work once Mark got healthy enough to take the #1 snaps last season. He was new to the system last year and he had to be getting the lions share of all the work just to get him up to speed.

Kirk's gotten away with ****** QB play for so long with a great defense and special teams. Well now it seems the defense and special teams are a huge question marks and maybe not able to put out fire after fire. Hoping for the best, but it's not encouraging to say the least about the QB.
