Losses to Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State. Most likely a loss to either Iowa or Illinois, but not both of them.
Can you give us your descriptive reasoning. Honestly curious and I’m boredLosses to Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State. Most likely a loss to either Iowa or Illinois, but not both of them.
I’m not a sky is falling advocate but I’m right there with you on 4-8I agree, but flip the numbers.

If we have our **** together our only three losses could potentially be Oregon, IU, and tOSU. Optimism aside, we have had a bad track record in recent years closing games, especially games we should win. 8-4 and 9-3 are awfully optimistic. Can you give us your descriptive reasoning. We will be lucky to make a bowl game.Losses to Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State. Most likely a loss to either Iowa or Illinois, but not both of them.
I’m in the 8-4 camp too and similar games. My reasoning is the following:Can you give us your descriptive reasoning. Honestly curious and I’m bored
Just for conversation purposes, I’ll toss out why I’m apprehensive. Just an opinion, not preaching doomsday scenarios. Let’s assume the Oline received little to no development or direction under Donovan, which is just my uneducated assumption, but, is one offseason enough time with a brand new Oline coach, even with the added transfers. But the biggest reason I’m not on the 8-4 train yet is the fact that we are basing our potential success off of a fair amount of players who have never played in the big ten. Yes, Indiana did just fine with lower level players, but they very well might possess a level of a developer that we don’t have. I enjoy writing my thoughts down. Appreciate the chance to banter.I’m in the 8-4 camp too and similar games. My reasoning is the following:
—We got some old guys for the lines. They weren’t all-Americans but I would take a dude in his 4th and 5th year over a 5 star as a freshman.
—We have an Oline coach who knows what the heck he’s doing. With upgraded talent - the Oline being even middle of the road in BIG can change so many dynamics.
—Mobile qb who is willing to take some risks. Will open so much for O and hopefully get us out of the cellar in the red zone.
—New DC (again) - blind hope on this one.
—I was a staunch defender of Dylan early on - but him being an absolute attention slut I’m sure was not cohesive in the locker room. Pillsbury Ravoli is gone and we have a dude that pulls people together.
—Dline. Fingers crossed the extra year will be good for these boys as well as the scheme. Biggest question mark to the season in my opinion. We were dead last in the country giving up TD’s at ridiculous rate in the red zone. If we can’t stop the run - it will be a problem. 100% guarantee it will be better than last year though.
—I am still not off the Rhule truck … yet. I truly do think this can click and I think it will be a season we can look back on and say progress was made. My opinion … my hope.
Fair - I think Evans is really good at center and I think Pritchett is going to be an NFL guy. They each got an extra year of experience which in college is huge. Now we have two guys come in with starting experience - I think it can shift pretty dramatically. Not to mention the QB being able to move which will also help the Oline. Agree it’s not a guarantee but could literally change everything for us.Just for conversation purposes, I’ll toss out why I’m apprehensive. Just an opinion, not preaching doomsday scenarios. I predict 5-7... until Rhule shows me he can win a game with meaning I think I have to go with the reoccurring theme. I refuse to drink any kool-aid this year, and hope they prove me wrong.Losses to Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State. Most likely a loss to either Iowa or Illinois, but not both of them.
Rhule would be retained because of his massive buyout and the incoming recruiting class.6-6 (or maybe even 5-7 and we get one of those fringe 5 win bowl invites). But either way, we make a bowl.
Then we hear from Rhule and Dannen over and over how great he is to have taken us to 3 straight bowls which hasn't been done in forever. And in particular how hard this year's schedule was and we still made a 3rd consecutive bowl and on and on and on, rinse and repeat again.
And the reality is he's still a 500 coach who can't beat good teams and this year's schedule is only hard if you look at the top few teams and want to actually be respectable, but really easy if just making a bowl is your goal, which it appears to be. But that won't stop the narative.
And Rhule is retained because we're so close. Give us your money because we're so close.
Yep, Nebraska would have to not only win every game they should win, but win one or two they shouldn’t have.8-4 is wishful thinking. All our hardest games are in the second half of the season where Rhule always collapse. 7-5 is possible if we win the first five games. If we lose any of those early games, it’s likely we go 5-7 or 6-6.
Against this year’s schedule versus last season’s, 8-4 will mean there has been a large and noticeable leap in the Huskers quality of play.Losses to Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State. Most likely a loss to either Iowa or Illinois, but not both of them.
