It was a goofy mistake. Are you actually going to pretend that you would not have called me out had I posted something similar?Ohh, you got me good.
Wac and Mac....clearly no one would have known what was meant.

A lot less foolish than acting like it wasn't.Continuing to insist K's pre-Duke resume was vastly superior is absolutely clownish.
I would have known what you meant and honestly not in as desperate need for a win, unlike yourself. So I have no problem with it.It was a goofy mistake. Are you actually going to pretend that you would not have called me out had I posted something similar?
This has been covered plenty enough already. You obviously just have an axe to grind against Pope and have no interest in being reasonable about the topic.A lot less foolish than acting like it wasn't.
What was Pope's biggest accomplishment pre UK?
Pope could be coach K. We just have to wait. LOLContinuing to insist K's pre-Duke resume was vastly superior is absolutely clownish.
So, then what is it? If you've already identified it, what is the harm in saying now? This has been covered plenty enough already. You obviously just have an axe to grind against Pope and have no interest in being reasonable about the topic.

That is definitely a lie given your behavior. You never miss an opportunity to mock and ridicule.I would have known what you meant and honestly not in as desperate need for a win, unlike yourself. So I have no problem with it.
I never said that and you know it.Pope could be coach K. We just have to wait. LOL
Just one example would be 24-8 against a SOS rated at 6.45 clearly outweighs 19-9 vs. a SOS of -2.23.So, then what is it? If you've already identified it, what is the harm in saying now?

Being fired, for what? Building a team in the 80s?This has been covered plenty enough already. You obviously just have an axe to grind against Pope and have no interest in being reasonable about the topic.
Are you actually insisting you would not have been demanding K be fired after going 27-30 his first two seasons and then following that with an 11-17 season?
Sure I do. I honestly could not care less if you use a wrong letter. Again, I am not that desperate. That is definitely a lie given your behavior. You never miss an opportunity to mock and ridicule.
Ohh, so the Covid year was his greatest accomplishment going 1-3 against ranked teams and losing 5 games against unranked teams?24-8 against a SOS rated at 6.45 clearly outweighs 19-9 vs. a SOS of -2.23.
You are actually going to insist you would have been content and not calling for his job after the first three seasons of going 38-47 yet you want Pope gone for going 46-26 in two seasons marred by significant injuries after inheriting an empty roster late in the process in year one?Being fired, for what? Building a team in the 80s?
23-11 vs. a SOS of -1.76, 25-10 vs. SOS of -2.30, 24-8 vs. SOS of 6.45, 20-7 vs. SOS of 7.23, 24-11 vs. SOS of 5.23, 23-11 vs. SOS of 7.86 are all clearly better than the 19-9 vs. SOS of -2.23 you are touting for K.Ohh, so the Covid year was his greatest accomplishment going 1-3 against ranked teams and losing 5 games against unranked teams?

Yes, did K have NIL and transfer portal at his disposal? Was Duke a blueblood when K went there? You are actually going to insist you would have been content and not calling for his job after the first three seasons of going 38-47 yet you want Pope gone for going 46-26 in two seasons marred by significant injuries after inheriting an empty roster late in the process year one?
Any championships or anything?23-11 vs. a SOS of -1.76, 25-10 vs. SOS of -2.30, 24-8 vs. SOS of 6.45, 20-7 vs. SOS of 7.23, 24-11 vs. SOS of 5.23, 23-11 vs. SOS of 7.86 are all clearly better than the 19-9 vs. SOS of -2.23 you are touting for K.
This a new level of stupidity after basically getting checkmated at every turn. Now acting like I'm actually Mark Pope is extremely lame. I never tried to compare him to the legend K became but he obviously stacks up favorably against the record of K up to 1984.Yes, did K have NIL and transfer portal at his disposal? Was Duke a blueblood when K went there?
Pope has had all of those things and among the highest recruiting budgest in CBB. And we suck!
Look, Mark, it's just not going to work out! We loved you as a player, but you're trash as a coach.
You've coached 12 years with 0 to show for it. No conference championships, no conference tournament championships and 1 SW16 appearance. You've gotten embarrassed countless times now as the HC at UK. Top recruits don't want to play for you and play you like a fiddle. While you did get some portal pieces, they are the typical offensive minded players you've coached for 11 years that lack physicality and defense to actually contend.
You can try to compare yourself to the GOAT in K or one of the countless coaches you listed in your diatribe, but anyone can pick that apart just comparing the actual records. You're just an inadequate coach.
We wish you the best in your next endeavors, but we are all glad your time at UK is almost over.
Looking at the kenpom net sos rating:23-11 vs. a SOS of -1.76, 25-10 vs. SOS of -2.30, 24-8 vs. SOS of 6.45, 20-7 vs. SOS of 7.23, 24-11 vs. SOS of 5.23, 23-11 vs. SOS of 7.86 are all clearly better than the 19-9 vs. SOS of -2.23 you are touting for K.
Stupidity pointing out your logical flaws? This a new level of stupidity after basically getting checkmated at every turn. Now acting like I'm actually Mark Pope is extremely lame. I never tried to compare him to the legend K became but he obviously stacks up favorably against the record of K up to 1984.
Looking at the kenpom net sos rating:
2024 BYU was 68. Non conference schedule of 329
In 2023, they finished ranked 73rd in kenpom and had a SOS ranked 85th and non conference of 128
In 2022, BYU finished the season 58th in Kenpom. It was 85th in overall SOS and the non conference sos was 31st.
In 2021, they were 65th in both.
In 2020, 74th overall and 20th non conference.
What is supposed to be so impressive?
So you're saying K took an even worse team farther than Pope did?![]()

You were the one who tried to set the impressive line at 19-9 against a schedule rating of -2.23.
You are in essence, arguing Pope could be like legendary coaches, if we just give him some time. Despite nothing in his resume suggesting he is that.I never said that and you know it.
This is the bad thing about the internet. I know you wouldn’t play like you didn’t understand his point IRL. One of the nicest and smartest dudes I know yet when you show up on here you do stuff like this…You are in essence, arguing Pope could be like legendary coaches, if we just give him some time. You were pushing for Musselman at one time.Pope could be coach K. We just have to wait. LOL
Mussleman has 3 sweet 16s and 2 elite 8s. Way better coach than Pope. Id take him today. You were pushing for Musselman at one time.
I guess he went to the West Coast so he could take his shirt off.
The issue is. Pope hasn’t been coaching for just 2 seasons. This is the bad thing about the internet. I know you wouldn’t play like you didn’t understand his point IRL. One of the nicest and smartest dudes I know yet when you show up on here you do stuff like this…
He isn’t arguing what Pope will or won’t be. He’s simply showing, with evidence, that it takes time for some coaches to develop. Pope is still pretty early in his coaching career — he could develop into the next Tom Crean, the next John Thompson III, the next Kelvin Sampson or anything else. That is factually apparent when you start looking at other greats’ careers. That doesn’t mean Paul is arguing such a thing has a high probability — he’s simply sharing to you why he’s looking for a greater sample size. Rather than understanding that, a couple of you will choose to simplify his points into a ridiculous strawman and how does that help? So you can ridicule him? Pope is the coach regardless and people have various logical reasons to support or doubt him. Personally, I’m still mostly in the middle but I understand where Paul is coming from. It’s actually pretty easy to see what he’s saying if you aren’t thinking about it like it’s Battlefield 6 with people on both sides of a war.
And I’m not under the impression that he has been. The issue is. Pope hasn’t been coaching for just 2 seasons.

He come, and as I've said....Cal will be energized to force K and Roy into their easy chairs while he commands the stage for the next Decade.
Not sure if it will all shake out, but I stand by my prediction that Cal's best days are in front of him at UK, when K and Roy are sitting at home watching him. I truly believe he's motivated to force them to watch him command the stage.
He wouldn't wait 10 years. Cal's going to force K and Roy watch him command the stage from their wheelchairs.
How upset were you when Hulk Hogan turned hollywood? You're deperately grasping at straws little Richie. Quick! Cover up your nonsense and keep telling everyone how much more than them you know about who should be coaching UK. LOL!!! #Blowharder
Not directed at me.How upset were you when Hulk Hogan turned hollywood?
You’re not a sentient continent? The most amazing thing about this thread is people thinking Cattorney is an actual employed professional attorney in real life.I mean truly amazing.
Meh, you sound like Calipari. I’m among those who don’t kiss the ground simply because a UK team reaches a final four. Gonzaga has been to multiple final fours. Houston has been to final fours. Butler has been to multiple final fours. Penn has been to a final four. Team banners should only be for champions, and a final four appearance won’t erase what I’ve otherwise seen from Coach Pope as a leader his first two seasons in Lexington. The bottom line is that regardless of how any of us have felt about Pope up until this summer, this is his shot to show what he can do. He has worked very hard to put together a Final Four contender. No one has really been "wrong" if they've supported him or critiqued him up until this point. What matters is the team that will take the court this season. If Pope wins big, I think you see 95%+ of BBN get passionately behind him. If he fails, it will be the opposite and the new AD will make the necessary changes.
It really all comes down to Pope at this point. He has all the needed equipment to make it to the Final Four.
Going to Final Fours are still special though. In 87 years of NCAA tournaments, we have only won the title 8 times and that’s considerably more than almost anyone. I think it’s fair to celebrate Final Fours rather than just titles. It’s why I’m happy we have the 1942, 1966, 1975, 1984, 1993, 1997, 2011, 2014 and 2015 banners up there as well. Those years weren’t failures — they were still great years. They weren’t ultimate but still deserve celebration IMOMeh, you sound like Calipari.
