1. ESL - took a tough loss to FL power AHP but remains the top IL team

2. MC - for a quarter there the country was laughing at us, but MC hung in there and wiped those silly smirks off their faces. Climbs back into the top 2 with an impressive 3qtrs against NJ power St Joe's Regional

3. H-F - gets their 2nd straight blank of a highly regarded team.

4. LWE - secured the W over Kankakee, but was closer than expected especially coming off of a win over Rice. Expect H-F to be a step up from the Kays

5. Rice - still unsure what to do with them as the week 2 game told us nothing.

6. Oswego - offense is humming along, defense seems to have some questions.

7. Loyola - nothing that Loyola did, just took a hit for Warren not being competitive in either game. Good job beating Indy Cathedral, we have to show these out of state teams who's boss

8. Rochester - hey, its the unbiased rankings, if you play the teams and get the wins you will be rewarded. Beating Batavia like they stole your Karl Kani shirt in '92 will get you ranked.

9. DGN - solid win over MP in week 1 then beat my Mustangs like a drum.

10. Hersey - why not?

I had to Google what a Karl Kani shirt was. And then I realized I was in the Marine Corps in 1992 and therefore did not realize what that clothing was.
Those Karl Kani shirts were ending up missing in our locker rooms if people didnt bring their lock for gym. In some ways I miss the 90's in other ways I dont 🤣

Interesting opening 2 weeks no doubt.

Since you are breaking out the transitive logic…

On H-F, why is Richards highly regarded? I clearly haven’t seen these team play but the scores show they lost to a depleted DePaul team.

LWE barely beat Kankakee. What does this say about Rice?

I'm looking forward to getting a chance to see the Hersey QB this week.

Not necessarily the transitive. Just using the available data points.

Richards, I believe, was highly regarded coming into the season. I cant tell you why.

Not sure about Rice, but Kam McGee was out for a large portion of the LWE game and Im still taking into account last year.

All i was wearing back then were cammies, alphas, bravos, charlies, dress blues, pt shorts, boots (dessert, jungle, or black), and workout shoes back then. i think i had 2 pairs of jeans, a braided leather belt, and two dress up button down shirts (one white and one blue). The closet locker was pretty empty otherwise. Lol

I'm starting to think IC is going to be unranked even if they beat Loyola.
I definitely considered IC, they are on the short list. What hurt them was I wasnt sold on last year's Naz because of the miracle win vs LZ. I watched a handful of LZ games so I was really familiar. Kind of like Sandburg's win over Montini.

Another point of view.

1. Loyola (2-0) Average running backs and modest speed in the secondary. Otherwise, excellence everywhere else on the field... and coaching.
2. East St. Louis (1-1) American Heritage did lose their opener by 17 points, so the loss to Heritage drops the Flyers one spot.
3. Mt. Carmel (1-1) A comeback for the ages, but Mt. Carmel's play is very uneven at the moment.
4. Lincoln-Way East (2-0) The coming game against Homewood-Flossmoor should tell us a lot.
5. Brother Rice (1-1) The one-point road loss in their opener keeps them one spot behind Lincoln-Way East in the rankings.
6. Fenwick (2-0) Defending 6A champions have not lost yet, so this seems like an appropriate ranking.
7. Providence (2-0) Two solid wins to start the season.
8. Homewood-Flossmoor (2-0) Bolingbrook's nice bounce-back victory is enough to vault Homewood-Flossmoor into the top ten.
9. St. Charles North (2-0) Last year's DuKane Conference co-champion just might be the outright champion this year.
10. IC Catholic (2-0) Similar to the H-F situation, Nazareth's nice bounce-back victory earns IC Catholic the 10th spot.

11. Downers Grove North
12. Oswego
13. Nazareth
14. Wheaton North

18. Marist
19. Montini

I wouldn't complain about it. Teams you have I considered. I partly did not want to be stuck in a situation where I was building a ranking off of a couple teams which can be easy to do. I wanted to get out of that vicious circle.

Fenwick's game vs OPRF was troubling. I dont buy into Providence at all yet since a lot of this still includes last season and their week 9 - 14 I found wanting.

SCN I thought about, but The Nook wasnt looking so hot and SE is U8.

American Heritage is back-to-back defending FLA state champs who lost to the nation's 20th-ranked team.

Cathedral lost to Ben Davis.

That's like comparing the Gulf of America to Lake America.

Having watched every down of Loyola’s two games there is no universe in which they are number one. They have had two fantastic quarters (one each) against mid-to-poor teams. The rest has looked like the team that squeaked into the playoffs in
last season. I believe they have a big upside — and the offense is fun to watch as it’s not the Hail Mary offense that many of the big teams seem to be moving towards — but until that upside materializes they aren’t a top 5 team.

SCN is still an unknown having played 2 poor opponents. Based on current info and film I would put most of your outside of the top 10 above them

Inasmuch as your comment about Batavia last week was spot on and you seem to know the DuKane Conference very well, I will take your word for it.

Nice lists, guys 👍 Any wiggle room for Morris in there?
Schedule and beat a top team OR opt up into a higher class and beat a top team. Let's say Morris were to have rekindled the flame with Oswego this year, and beat them in week 2, Warriors would be in the unbiased top 10. Theres also a path in the 4A playoffs should they show well against Rochester and Batavia show well in 7A.

To be fair IC didn't beat Loyola. IC beat Naz's second string in WEEK ONE and then beat some unranked team from MO. They won't be challenged for another 5-6 weeks. I think they are fairly ranked here.

The OUTT needs to know how many starters were out as this will affect Naz and its opponents.

I hope Naz’ first string is ready to go this week.
There may be acuppatootree still out this week but definitely more than week 1.

However, after watching that game last Friday, you can march the national guard into Barda-Dowling and it won't matter.

Word on the street there were 5 or 6 D1 athletes missing in week 1. I can't be too sure but maybe one was a runningback that had a great week 2 and then a few other key players maybe along the O or D line somewhere maybe even a skills player or two as well.

I am not taking anything away from IC. As I stated two weeks ago, any time someone can knock off the roadrunners even if they aren't 100% and it's week 1 with a brand new QB, they should be celebrating like they won the Super Bowl. Naz is a great program and IC too it to the team that lined up across from them.

I just don't think IC would do as well if that game was played even 1 week later let alone in say week 7 or 8.

What you didn't get Libo? I was with the grunts in 29 Stumps and we got Libo! Had a wide access of late 80's/early 90's attire to attract the desert rats! I think I had a techno colored shirt!
