You tell me. You clearly don’t know who’s on the team right now. You don’t know what defense is being run and who coaches it. You base all of your tirades on what happened last year.
It’s hilarious that the kool aid drinkers want it to be illegal to bring up previous seasons under Rhule, even LAST YEAR 😂 Gee, I wonder why? And I’m sure our 119th ranked rush defense will magically improve with all the mediocre talent we brought in lol

I know where the defensive staff came from. I am giving you a layup to actually start a real conversation. I will say the DC played one top 25 team, and gave up 49 points. I do expect improvement up front from last year, but I expect regression in the secondary(which was really good last year), and I expect major regression in special teams(which were majorly improved). I also expect the offense to really struggle. Rhule has never had a good offense. We are still going to struggle in short yardage, still struggle in the red zone, still struggling throwing downfield..but now we don't have an accurate passer, nor a workhorse running back, nor a stable of go WRs. The oline will be improved no doubt, eventually. Colandrea will make some plays but I don't think this is an offense that will improve from last year overall.

how about we actually watch the games

Why are you here? You don't want anyone to acknowledge anything negative about the team. You don't think anyone should get happiness from game results. You don't think anyone should discuss how the season might go. In fact, you apparently don't want to talk football at all. Again, why are you on a Nebraska football message board?

Having a defense with a four man front, with DL not being asked to do things they couldn’t do (last year), having quality linebackers including a field general in Chambliss who understands Aurich’s system and coaches at all three levels that know Aurich’s system should bring cohesion vs the hodge podge staff that we had last year under Butler. Is it going to be a top 25 unit like under White? Who knows, but I believe the defense should be set up for vast improvement in run defense simply due to a more sound scheme.

I think the offense should be the best we’ve seen under Rhule, by far. You don’t think Colandrea is accurate? He can throw and run, actually extend plays with his feet and allow Dana to call the offense as he wants. If you aren’t a little excited to see what Wade can do with the most talented OL we’ve had under Rhule, I can’t help you. They’re going to be able to run the ball. We also have the deepest WR room we’ve had under Rhule. Gilmer and Hunter are studs. Barney needs to step up. Quinn Clark, Cortez Mills, Keelan Smith, all a solid backup unit. Bonner is healthy again. We have playmakers to work with Colandrea. As far as RB, I don’t think Nelson and Mozee are nearly as bad as many seem to think and Rule seems to be a legit every down back. Obviously, he’s young, but he flashed his burst in the spring game. But the run game is going to look much improved simply due to an improved OL coached by a competent OL coach.

As I’ve already mentioned, I expect 8 regular season wins as a sign of real improvement. I believe the talent is there. Can Rhule actually do it? Time will tell.

wrong. Every year is it's own thing. The roster turnover is so great that you can't do that like you used to.
LOLOL. So you must be new to life in general, born last week or something. Our “roster turnover” wasn’t great, especially on the O and D lines. What was our transfer class rated? We do have new coaches, of course, because we do that EVERY YEAR, under dips**t Rhule, but as long as the is the head guy it will be more of the same. You guys are crazy to think he’s going to magically became a winner because of a bunch of g5 transfers and coaches and a 270 lb DT from Boston college 😂

I think we did a little better than g5 transfers. What I like best at this point is that we are older … finally!

This is why I think we beat Michigan State, Rutgers, Maryland, Ohio, North Dakota, Bowling Green. That is 6 wins. It is not enough to win the other games in my opinion...and it is a lot of unknown stuff that has to go right...like the DC DL adjusting well to the strongest conference, like the oline coach meshing well with Dana and Rhule and being on the same page. Colandrea handing big 10 pressure, while staying healthy. One of our backs being 80% of what Emmitt was...this is why I say we are pretty much locked into 5-6 wins, but getting 8 will be difficult. I don't see another 6 win season as reason to bring back Rhule. But you point out all of the reasons to be hopeful, and the first 5 weeks should be fun to watch.

Fair points. And understood that I’m banking on all of the changes to be good changes.

So bring something positive, and not just ignorant platitudes. Why do you think we will win 8 games next year and make it a successful season? I honestly can't come up with any reason that we will see a jump or improvement from last year, and lots of reason to think there might be a collapse. So why don't you argue something to the contrary. I actually get quite optimistic.

Even to this day I thought the 2024 team had a chance at the playoffs if Satt wasn't OC and Foley wasn't ST coordinator, and Mcquire wasn't WR coach. Dylan was playing really well for a true freshman, the defense was very good...but the offensive coaching was terrible and special teams were some of the worst in the country. "We were close" but coaches decisions to hire friends and continue to bring them back wasted that one opportunity. Rhule showed that his priority wasn't winning time and time again, and we just have to live with him piecing together leftovers while he waits to go sit on a Florida beach.
This was what I was responding too in above post. Somehow this part was deleted, either my error, or a glitch in the matrix. I would bet on it being my error 😂😂

The AD is already being squeezed...less money coming in, complaints about Rhule and his staff. Obviously Rhule was pushed to fire OC, ST, WR coach who were his buddies, and had to move on from his star recruit because the OL coach was so bad. AD made a bonehead decision to extend him and now his feet is held to the fire. This is why he is giving press conferences begging people to give charity before they see the product on the field this year. People in the program read this stuff, players/coaches are on here. Wider media reads this stuff on the air. I don't get people complaining about complaining when there is plenty to complain about with our favorite team. Or you could share why you are hopeful and maybe change someone's mind. I am more hopeful for the first few games at least after having some discussions with folks.

It is so weird to feel you need to white knight the guy openly stealing from the university, like Rhule needs your protection or support. Maybe you haven't been around coaches enough to know their nature. These aren't good guys...they don't care about fans or Nebraska or the program. At best they are trying to improve their reputation and name to promote out(Rhule failed at that), at worst they have given up and are getting creative with ways to make more money(extensions, nil, podcasts).

Then why do you go on a free football message board for a team that is 1-30 against ranked opponents over the last 10 years and complain about people complaining. Just deal with it. Men want to win, they want to watch good football, they want to see growth, competency, and men take accountability. They don't want to see incompetent scammers hire their friends while siphoning millions to their own bank account. Or maybe that is what you want to see. Guess I shouldn't judge. Professional scamming would be an interesting sport and we have a front row seat right now. Documenting all of Rhules tricks, schemes, and "successes" in duping stupid people in power is actually quite fun. As is watching dolts support it.

I am an irreverent ahole...I've spent a lot of time around coaches so I am biased against them and always assume the worst. It would be great to be wrong and have someone step up and do something special. It has just been so damn long.

I’ll ***** and whine when warranted. Just not going to forecast doom and gloom before a season. I lived through Tom getting humiliated by OU for all those years. I would get depressed for weeks when we lost to OU. I’m older and wiser. I also know that none of the posters on here have what it takes to run or coach a P4 football program. I’ll ***** after games like Minnesota last year. Not before.

Well said dingle. We also survived a 3-9 campaign and 6 or straight losing seasons. Not where we want to be … yet!
