He didn't collapse and die. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

He collapsed in the end zone and then died after going yes. It was not immediate, but whatever happened killed him. Probably a heart defect of some kind.
Actually, Noci, he collapsed and then died. in addition, we don’t know if the heart ever restored rhythm or not. Even if answers is no he was pronounced dead at hospital while in truth he died on the field. i agree with Fox that heart is most likely culprit.

It typically does. It's extremely rare when compared to all of the HS and college athletes across every sport. Without testing there's no way to know if a young athlete has a cardiac defect.

This is some ridiculous nitpicking here.

Yes, he did collapse and die. That a very short period of time might’ve elapsed in between doesn’t change that.
It's sensationalistic captioning, Yahoo type stuff.

The kid graduated with my son. Shocking. Do we need to start discussing moving football season to early November to March? It was hot as hell here yesterday at game time.

Very sad and hate to hear. Heat is always rough but sounds like this kid just had unknown issues. Had it been solely heat, lots of players would've been collapsing to one extent or another.

I'm sorry, but that is logically not true. Heat-related deaths often affect people with underlying conditions, but to say that heat played no role because others were not affected is a simplistic take. Great story on NPR this morning that deals with this issue: Link.

Of course heat played a role. That's why I specifically limited my statement to it being the sole cause.

This kid was just not healthy enough to be playing. Not sure who's to blame, but it isn't the sun.

He collapsed, was taken to the hospital, then died. Sounds like he collapsed and died to me. Your definition of exactly what that means doesn't matter, pretty insensitive imo. RIP young man.
