I disagree. Having it at University Park would be biased in favor of Penn State, but I don't see the problem in having it in State College. That's a very nice neutral site. Similar to Columbus.

To be truly neutral they should have it in a college town that doesn’t have a D1 program like Ames, Iowa…..
It still seems weird that the B1G has west coast schools.

Agreed. I can't stand that Rutgers and Maryland have ruined our conference.
Maybe the lowest scoring team at conference or nattys should host. No hosting two years in a row.

It would show Michigan State that you can fill a gym with wrestling fans, aside from the fact their home venue has 500 available seats.
We were NEVER going to remotely rival you guys for fan support, but there WAS a time where some duals actually had people standing with no where left to sit. Now......not so much!
I saw that. We had more people at our hs matches back in the day.
If they are going to move them from college campuses then they need to establish the criteria for a city to bid - size of the arena, within X miles of a big ten campus, or whatever. Otherwise this just feels like just another money grab and not to grow the sport.
My statement was more to draw you out and see what you’re going to say. Kidding aside, how many fans were there in this standing room only era?
It would be good for MSU and wrestling in general to have the old attendance at your Alma Mater.

Good thing the B10 didn't want a neutral site for the 1983 championships. They were held in Carver Hawkeye...my first wrestling attendance there. I got to sit pretty near the floor and the Hawks were terrific! I know, CSB... 
This is what I think that the Big Ten is up to. This is about Big Ten Conference administration interests, not college wrestling interests.

The duals with Michigan would draw close to 2,000 in the 90's. I know that still isn't close to what Carver consistently draws, but it sure was a HELL OF A LOT more than the few families of wrestlers, a couple dozen former wrestlers(if that), a half dozen to a dozen students and whatever visiting team families/fans happen to show up now...
MSU158: ... recall great MSU team of 1968 winning B10 Championship in Iowa City/University of Iowa. Spartans led by Waterloo great/NCAA Champion Dale Anderson (Dan Gable will remember being schooled by Anderson). Lest we not forget.

Detroit could host the B10s for the next 30 years, and it wouldn't do sh** to help either program.

I think all B10 fans would rather have the conference tourney in Ottumwa or Keokuk before they see it go back to State College, let alone Pennsylvania..............

Not that I want it in Wis every year, but Madison and the Khol Center was great for the fans due to the proximity of all the bars/restaurants/hotels etc. I would go back there for B10s in a heartbeat.
Memphis Pyramid now houses a massive Bass Pro Shops megastore, hotel, and 20,000 seat arena. Wrestling fans are the core customer for Bass Pro.

Chicago is only site that is central that every team and fan would have easy travel or flight. Plenty of air and hotels option if they don't want to drive. Cost wise and regional location make this by far best and Chicago isn't a big ten campus town. NW does not count. This change needs made.
Chi-town is a great foodie place.
How much attendance is there if Big Tens were in a truly neutral site? How much attendance if it were in Chicago? Just curious. Haven’t been to a BT Wrestling championship for many years. I think my last one was in the Barn. That wasn’t too full from what I remember. Do they sell out a 15k seat arena?
Carver will sell out. Any state which borders Iowa will sell out, unless there is a major snowstorm; which was the case at Williams arena in 2019. They still drew 12,000 fans per session with a capacity of 14,625.
