GT/Tulane/SEC

[DudahUK]

What’s the story on why they left the conference? Before my time. You know they have to be kicking themselves everyday for that dumb decision.

Thanks.

Before my time as well, but if I remember correctly, Georgia Tech football coach, Boyd or Dodd, was also athletic Director. He opposed the SEC rule limiting football and basketball scholarships. Because they didn’t get their way they left the SEC. GT was an independent for 10 or 12 years before possibly joining the metro???
I know they tried to rejoin the SEC in 1978 but didn’t get approval. Shortly there after they joined the ACC.
Tulane was having problems keeping up with the SEC big boys in football spending. The university president decided to leave the SEC and scale back sports spending. They intended to focus on academics. In 1988 they tried to rejoin the SEC but were turned down. Some people credit Tulane’s attempt to rejoin the SEC for sparking interest in expansion. Which led to South Carolina and Arkansas joining the league in the early 90s.

I remember when GT had Travis Best and it briefly looked like maybe they were going to be something besides a whipping boy.

Cremins had a bunch of great point guards.

Georgia Tech left because Bobby Dodd was pissed off at Bear Bryant oversigning players at Alabama.

Tulane left because they wanted to focus on academics instead of being competitive in sports.

Sewanee for the same reasons as Tulane.

You realize this is a discussion board meant for discussion Einstein? We would have zero discussion if everyone googled it. God, you are the worst. Will you come to my RR meetup I’d like to plan? I would LOVE it.

Better bring someone who can fight for you. Just saying.

Thank you. Beatle is too stupid to grasp that and have a conversation with anyways. I literally live rent free in his head daily. No clue why? But he’s obsessed.

Now I wonder if I would have found that with a simple google post. Almost like these boards are for discussion. Hmm.

Apparently I have you on ignore, why can I see your posts?

[Artlaibesghost]

Dont know. I never ignore anybody. I subscribe to Aristotles maxim "If 2 people agree on everything, one of them is unnecessary. "

Why is Tulane called Tulane? Let’s discuss. It’s a message board.

You also realize I wasn’t the only one to call out your dumbass assertion that we should Google everything instead of discussing right? Of course not. You are just likes the tard Moses. Swear you all are the same.

[DudahUK]

So you, @fox2monk agree with the tard huh? I could have googled it? None of you idiots understand the idea of a message board apparently.

Hey, if you don’t know how to research facts, you don’t know how to research facts. Let other posters educate you. It’s fine. No shame. Now, you told me to Google an opinion. LOL THAT is what message boarding is for. Good luck.
