Love seeing ESL heading down to Broward County to take on the Heritage Patriots in South Florida! Will the Flyers be able to handle the travel, heat and humidity? Will the real American Heritage team show up after last week’s loss? Should be a great game!! I thought it would be on ESPN. I’m going with the Flyers by 3 points.

Heat and humidity? Have you ever been to St. Louis in August?

Flyer flew today - driven to Lambert International in a couple of bright shiny new NIke-wrapped busses! Nipple stiffening AC temps, I am sure.

Travel is easy - they have more time than the locals who will be in a full day of school.

The two direct flights from STL to MIA landed at 3:15, at the hotel by five, meal at six. Team activity - maybe fun, maybe a walk through, I dunno. In rooms by 10:00, lights out by 11:00. Breakfast at 8:30, practice at 10. Feed again at 1:00, walk-through at 2:30. Meal at 6:00, FIlms and Cookies and Milk at 7:00. Build in study time each day. Rooms by 10:00, lights out by 11:00. Then it's game day for a night time start. DO whatever you usually do but having them in your contract for the past 60 hours helps.

Right now, Miami, FL is noticeably more humid and feels slightly warmer than Sauget, IL. Even though both cities are sitting at an identical actual air temperature of 84°F this evening, the high tropical moisture in Florida creates a much heavier, stickier atmosphere.
A direct breakdown of the current atmospheric data highlights the difference:

Weather MetricSauget, IL (Right Now)Miami, FL (Right Now)The Core Difference
Actual Temperature84°F84°FBoth cities share the exact same thermometer reading.
Relative Humidity61%73%Miami holds significantly more moisture in the air.
Heat Index ("Feels Like")88°F92°FMiami feels 4 degrees hotter due to the trapped humidity.
Current ConditionsPartly CloudyCloudy / Light RainMiami has active rain nearby, spiking the air's moisture content.

It's about the same here and it's been this way for a stretch.

Flyers without MJC.

The 2026 high school football season is really getting underway around the country and down in South Florida this weekend are some of the nation’s best games at the Broward County Classic High School Football Showcase. Tonight’s featured matchup of the classic features back-to-back Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 4A state champion Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage taking on Illinois powerhouse East St. Louis (Ill.). Both programs are annual state championship contending teams within their respective states and will feature well over a dozen Division I, Power 4 prospects on the field tonight. Before the Flyers and Patriots go at it, we give you some players to watch and a way to watch the game tonight in Plantation, Florida.

[ $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage ]

East St. Louis Flyers to Watch

East St. Louis finished the 2025 season as the No. 3 ranked team, per the final Illinois 2025 High School Football Massey Rankings. The Flyers will be without one of their best players in 2027 four-star running back Myson Johnson-Cook (Auburn commit), who is the No. 4 ranked player in Illinois and No. 4 at his position, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Last season through 12 games for the Flyers, Johnson-Cook rushed for 1,341 yards on 126 touches and scored 20 touchdowns. All of that missing production will now fall on others on the East St. Louis offense, starting with Cincinnati three-star wide receiver commit Ronnie Gomiller, who scored four times in the win over Chicago Mount Carmel last week.

4-star RB Myson Johnson-Cook (No. 4, No. 4 IL) – Auburn commit
4-star CB Raheem Floyd (No. 18, No. 7 IL) – Florida commit
3-star WR Ronnie Gomiller (No. 56, No. 16 IL) – Cincinnati commit
3-star S Jabarri Lofton (No. 66, No. 26 IL) – Missouri commit
3-star WR Laron Baker (No. 114, No. 31 IL) – Kansas State commit
3-star WR Jahmori Ware (No. 100, No. 24 IL)
3-star WR Jamarion Flowers (No. 294, No. 64 IL) – Missouri State commit

American Heritage Patriots to Watch

The American Heritage Patriots finished the 2025 season with a 5-5 record during the regular season a year ago didn’t deter the Patriots from still repeating as state champions as they ran table with five consecutive victories en route to finishing 10-5 with the Class 4A title in hand. The off-season saw a major new addition come into their proverbial lap in the form of Texas four-star quarterback commit Neimann Lawrence, who last Florida high school football season completed 131 of 185 passes for 1,971 yards, 32 touchdowns and just one interception. Problems scoring on offense, down multiple starting offensive lineman, plagued the Patriots ion a 24-7 loss to West Boca Raton as head coach Mike Smith and crew looked to right the ship against a talented East St. Louis squad.

4-star QB Neimann Lawrence (No. 6, No. 6 FL) – Texas commit
4-star CB Amare Nugent (No. 26, No. 24 FL) – Florida commit
4-star ATH Jeffrey O’Neal 9No. 6, No. 7 FL)
3-star TE Tank Proctor (No. 36, No. 60 FL) – Kentucky commit
3-star IOL Aiden Hartnett (No. 103, No. 125 FL) – Wake Forest commit
3-star IOL Nico Ramos (No. 113, No. 134 FL) – Syracuse commit
3-star DL Micah Price (No. 49, No. 62 FL)

Nike taking the bus back...along with the gear. Obviously florida football is superior to anything Illinois can produce. Heritage is a mid florida squad. ESL is our top squat and they are getting bent over.

Full Moon stuff.

MJC would be useful now. The Frosh not his match.

Now, movement ... was 3rd and short. This is the first flag I remember.

First down pass to Jamori Ware after Shank scramble. Nice play.

Pats are fast enough that they can press some receivers.

CRAP - another flag.

The wheels on the bus are falling OFF, OFF, OFF .... Then, RGM moves the ball to the 45.

Their announcers talking about Flyers and the heat and humidity impacts eventually ... then his guys start cramping.

Going for it on 4th and one near midfield. Gains it. And he gets another 4.

Dart to Fowers in the middle - ball at the 18. Flowers is tall - at least 6/2.

RB Chris Jackson, frosh, for a couple. Short and stocky.

Pass and run to the 1 - but a flag. Might be roughing ... YUP!!!!! RGM catch.

Jackson scores.

No it's not

"esl-v-florida-34-28-ot-pats"
This means nothing, it's Public school babbling!
Yep, that's the score and who won.
ESL 28 vs Florida 34 FINAL in OT.

This is clear and concise and no one will ever ask what it meant. You Public guys should try it. I know your handicapped by your High School years, but you could at least learn something from all the worthless babble you add to this board.
