My relationship with the toxic b!tch that is MSU football dates back to 1972 when I was 6 years old. There have been 13 seasons that I have not been thoroughly disappointed (1974, 1980, 1981, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2010, 2014, 2015, 2017). Chances are really high that the toxic b!tch that is MSU football will repeatedly kick me in the gonads again in 2026 .

I'm already in 8 win mode trying to convince myself how it can be possible.
I can maybe get to 7 wins if everything falls our way. I can't get to 8 wins though without divine intervention.
I believe it will be better but will it be enough . We need a real upset or two to get us to believing in ourselves again and for what ever reason I just have feeling that has a real chance of happening . Baaaaaaah
We're going to have to be better just to get back to 5 wins. Swapping a home game vs. Arizona St. for a road game vs a pretty good Big 10 team and dropping Troy to play Texas again aren't exactly conducive to getting more wins.
Same feelings exactly. Its like being a kid again and looking at that wrapped box under the Christmas tree imagining it is a game you wanted, a new fishing reel, a baseball glove etc etc etc only to open it and see 7 new pair of Kmart underwear
8 wins is possible if some combination of at least 2 of Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma & Texas have to forfeit games to us.
We're going to beat olemiss. They'll be reeling at that point after a couple of unexpected losses due to coaching errors.
I agree that the Ole Miss' season potentially goes sideways very quickly IF they lose to LSU in week 3, but yet IF they lose to Louisville week 1. If they lose to Louisville, Golding might not ever get to coach a regular season home game! We can dream can't we?
The season ended terribly last year, which was made even worse by the contrast of Ole Miss's unbelievable run; however, last night I was watching the highlights from the Texas game and remembered how different the season felt mid-season. We had knocked off a ranked Arizona St team in dramatic fashion and carried Tenn and Texas into OT. We couldn't close out those big games, the players lost confidence in Shapen, and things quickly turned south. On the other side, early in the year, Austin Simmons looked terrible and Ole Miss was squeaking by teams like Kentucky and Arkansas. Austin Simmons got hurt and they caught lightning in a bottle with a kid no one had ever heard of. Both fan bases were a few plays, or players away from having very different seasons in 2025. Hopefully we are on the other side of luck this year; however, luck has usually not been kind to State.
Kinda feel like 1997, 2007, 2009, 2011-2013, and 2021-2022 should not be considered “thoroughly disappointing”.
Also, 2018, while pretty disappointing, was still better than a lot of years on your list, namely 2015, 2017, 2000, and 1992.
Of course, that’s still just 22 seasons out of 54ish…..definitely not a great ratio.

2007 we all knew deep down it was a fluke, the offense was still putrid
2011-2013 were all underachieving seasons. 2013 might get a pass with Tyler Russell's injuries. 2012 team lost badly to every decent team on the schedule (SEC wins were 3-9 Auburn, 2-10 Kentucky, 5-7 Tennessee, & 4-8 UPIG).
2022 I might be able to agree, but the death of Leach after the Ole Miss game was brutal.
