Have that feeling it's going to be Brown. Too bad Bessinger wasn't an early enrollee, I doubt he sees the field this year.
I read an article that Tyler Barnes quoted as saying we wanted him to come in the spring but he wanted to finish high school and play basketball. He very likely would have a shot at starting this fall. Too bad.

We will see how this fall plays out, I'm assuming if it's another mid-poor season for the two starters, Bessinger will be right in the running next year.

I would tend to agree with that.

I think historically KF has alwsy been about as likely to change his ways as a rock is to turn to water, but this is a new era. With the 5 to play 5 and an OC that he probably trusts, and probably a lot of other reasons, it is not inconceivable that Bessinger could be QB Number 1 when 2027 kicks off. I rather doubt we will see him starting before then, though, but you never know. It would take quite an extraordinary turn of events for him to start sooner than early 2027.

Things are heating up and KF and crew need to nail this one down as there’s 9 more days til
Kickoff …
If it is not a clear cut choice then let them both play in the first game and then redo the evaluation. If they start Heck and he is outstanding in the first game maybe he gets most of the snaps.

Lot's of prestige and money involved here, millions of fans to please, this is not high school. Grown men who both have already transferred should not feel bad if they dont start.

Bessinger could be the guy by midseason. Depends more on how Hecklinski and/or Brown perform, but I do believe Bessinger is gonna create quite a stir, and sooner than later. We'll see.
Yes, I doubt we would see him before midseason except in mop-up work (barring injury, of course). Hank and Heck will first get do-or-die opportunities.

everyone seems to want #10 so that means Kirk will pick #9 lol
If the competition really is dead even, I hope that the coaching staff has the sense to start Heck Game1. If Hank trots out for the first series, there are going to be boos. I know the coaches don’t care what fans think for the most part, but the season can’t start like that. The fans would be much more likely to warm up to Hank if he comes in off the bench.

Play the most talented guy, regardless of year.

If Tradon is the most talented, gradually break him into the more complicated aspects of the playbook.
I am so stinking tired of hearing how complicated our playbook is, how complicated our offense is, and how our young players can never play because of how complicated it is. Isn't an amazing that other teams way better than us can play true freshman and they play like studs. It's just a crutch for KF to take heat off of an often stale offense.

Is it too much to ask for fans to have the sense to simply not boo?

Why, in the name of God would any real Iowa fan boo, the guy picked by the coaches, and supported by his team mates before hes' EVER started a game at Iowa? Really? And that would be okay? And we think its just everything about the game that's screwed up.

Sounds like it would really help recruiting for the fans to boo like that. very bright idea.

Fans often do stupid things.

I have never booed a college player and never will.

I’m usually very anti-booing for lots of reasons including the reasons you listed. It also comes across as very immature and entitled. However, I wasn’t against booing during the latter stages of the Brian days as it was a protest for change imo. And I do believe that contributed to his termination. The alternative is to not show up to the game at all…

My only issue with that is its pretty hard for the other 130 people on the sideline to know who your booing, when the guy your directing it at never walked out between the lines.

I’m not saying it would be ok. I’m saying it would happen. We may or may not find out for sure in a week.

Well, that's pretty damn sad if Iowa "fans" booed a guy who's never started a game at Iowa. Lester evidently thinks he's capable. People forget he came off the bench COLD, and had to make a play right out of the chute and he failed. It happens. It shouldn't define his career, unless thats what the rest of it looks like.

Glad you got that off your chest. Like I said, I don't support booing, but there will be at least a spattering of boos if Hank trots out for the first series.
