Not really that big a surprise. Drake plays in the Pioneer league (for football), and that league does not give athletic scholarships. I'd imagine that NW Missouri State or some other D11 teams in that conf would beat Drake pretty badly

Actually it’s a really big surprise. The Pioneer league while non scholarship has some decent football. Drake was actually breaking in a new coach as Woodley left after just one season.

I guess it's not really that shocking, but people bet on that, lol? I wonder what the total handle is on a game like that. I actually do wonder, talk about the measuring stick for how big of degens we have become if millions of dollars are moving around between an in state school that I didn't even know still had football and the Mines Hardrockers.

I'm just saying there's some really good football being played by some of those D11 schools . The conference here in Mo. and Ks has some exceptional football teams. NW Mo State, Pitt State, Emporia State and others have all put players into the NFL. Missouri State was in that conference but they just went D1 last season. Their first game as a D1 school was at USC in the coliseum. They got steamrolled of course first game but did manage to win half their games.

Agree. MIAA is a really good conference. Obviously NW MO st has multiple national championships in football and basketball. Also MO St was not in that conference. They were in the Missouri Valley for football before they left.

You are correct about Mo State. I guess they popped in my head, because I went to a couple of home games there last season. My oldest granddaughter was a freshman there last year.
