Need to give this some attention; I half watched the premiere while doing some other things. Liked what I saw though Lanterns in general have never been super interesting to me.

We recently finished Widow's Bay and I thought it was really, really good. The smartly placed humor and excellent performances from Matthew Rhys and especially Kate O'Flynn (as Patricia) were sort of the perfect balance to the horror and dread permeating everything else. Can't wait for S2.

Sort of a lull for us in terms of shows we both like and want to watch; we started 'Furious' on Hulu and it's fine so far - just not super compelling from a story standpoint though Emmy Rossum and Scoot McNairy are really good in it. Fall will hopefully bring back better stuff though I'm so behind on everything - still haven't watched current seasons of The Bear, One Piece, or Fallout.
I'm loving Lanterns.
I liked Widow's Bay the Stephen King and Jaws easter eggs were a hoot.
Speaking of King, Welcome to Derry is also very good. I love how they introduced Dick Hallorann.

Watching this right now. Just finished the “trip” episode. Love this show. Enjoyed the pilot and fully bought in during episode 2

Think my favorite episode was the one where Tom had to stay in the hotel, closely followed by Patricia's Sunset & Sips party. Then the one with the Boogeyman. Show nails the balance of humor/terror.

Apple TV has the best shows by far of any of the streaming services.

I don't know; still think Netflix is the king (for me personally). My favorites:

Netflix

-The Sandman
-The Umbrella Academy
-Arcane: League of Legends
-The Witcher (first two seasons)
-Stranger Things
-Mindhunter
-The Crown
-Squid Game

Prime

-The Gentleman
-The Night Manager
-Fallout
-Mr. & Mrs. Smith
-The Boys
-The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
-Fleabag
-Invincible

Hulu

-Letterkenney
-Alien: Earth
-Devs
-Only Murders in the Building
-The Bear
-Reservation Dogs

Apple TV+

-Slow Horses
-Your Friends and Neighbors
-Widow's Bay
-Ted Lasso
-Severance
-Pluribus
-Silo
-Drops of God

Off the top of my head, I would add Black Bird, Lucky, Cape Fear, Presumed Innocent, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, and Dark Matter to the list of good Apple TV shows. Black Bird is probably the best of that lot.

These things seem to go in cycles, but I agree that Apple is on a hot streak now. Netflix seems to be trying to capture the true crime demo, Apple is now branching out beyond sci-fi, and HBO is a bit hit or miss lately. But things can be quite different a year or two from now.

Watched the first episode of Black Mirror on Netflix. I really dunno…

I’ve watched a couple of episodes and really liked them. Since it’s an anthology series each episode is mostly stand alone and doesn’t necessarily take place in the same universe (but some do) and have different casts. ‘USS Callister’ is my favorite - has Jesse Plemons and Cristin Milioti in a dark take on Star Trek. S4E1.

When Tom is taking to Andrew and Patricia keeps interrupting them - “sorry, I forgot my purse”. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Finished Tires and His&Hers on Netflix. Tires was good, especially for the child remaining in all men. His&Hers was great for the first 4 episodes, but then really jumped the shark for the last 2.

Watched The Mandalorian and Grogu.
It was bad, really , really bad.

That's too bad; I lost interest around Season 4 I think? Just zero passion for Star Wars stuff anymore; I do want to get to Andor though because I heard it's awesome.

As an aside, well-deserved Emmy win for the long overdue Betty Gilpin (for her Widow's Bay episode). And cool seeing her 'date' was Alison Brie (bring back GLOW!!).

I thought the first 3 seasons were really good. But this was bad on a whole new level. Grogu was nothing but a fixture that Mando carried around.
I don't know how it ever got green lit as a movie. I normally like Favreau's movies but I have no idea what he was thinking with this mess.
Andor is good and I liked Ashoka as well.

For fans of The Gentleman, season 2 dropped on Netflix last week. I thought season 1 was outstanding so I'll be binging the new season this weekend.

Ended up being disappointed in the Lanterns Series.
Really liked Pierre as John and Chandler as Jordon but man some of the story lines.
but some of my criticims:
I think they tried to cram too much of the comics and merge them.
I was surprised at all the f bombs dropped. I'm not a prude by any means and sometimes also use that words as a noun, verb, adjective... but I know a good many Marines and very few if any used that kind of language around me and we were pretty good friends. So MO it didn't track with John.
But my biggest issue was the pace of some of the episodes. They could have made 1 episode out of about 3 of them.
So it didnt' turn out as good as I thought but still thought it was a decent/good watch.
I think I'd give it a 7/10.

I thought the entire storyline of his John and his mom was ridiculous (I know it's a comic) but it was dumb. The surprise ending with Hal was also ridiculous. Overall it wasn't horrible though. I'll watch season two it there is one.
